Here.
Actually, can we go up? As in climb a tall tree to get a view over the forest.

RANDOM DIRECTION... GO!

random direction roll = 1: PLOT EVENT!

QUEST PROGRESS

The party passes into the next glade. There is nothing interesting here but a barely visible path running through the dirt. Glancing down this path, you see some distance away a crumbling stone temple, covered in moss and vines.

Crowded outside this temple are a platoon of elven scouts, lead by the Elven Archer. They appear to be trying to gain entrance to the temple - the doors of which have been barred with thick, barbed vines.

Raith whispers back "I say let try to avoid gaining their attention. Maybe we can see if there's a back entrance"

I say we sneak around; if we get caught, port out to the spirit world. Easiest escape ever.

QUEST PROGRESS

The party sneaks around to the back of the temple, using the underbrush as cover and being careful to not fall into the sight of the elves.

At the back of the temple is a window, guarded by lashing vines. As you enter the area, the vines' movement slows, as if they sense you.

"Is that you out there?"

- you hear the Druid's voice call to you as the vines retract from the window -

"quickly! Climb inside before you're noticed!"

Yeah. In addition, ask the druid why the elves hate him, and ask him for some kind of proof that he's the good guy.

"thank god you're here.." The druid says as you clamber in through the window.

"I have found one of the keys, and the archer will do anything to get it..."

while the druid's vines keep Shaft and company out of the temple, he is willing to answer questions!

ask the druid why the elves hate him

"our views on the spirit world... differ. Ever since that wizard threw the conduit out of balance, Shaft (the elven archer) has wondered whether repairing the connection is really a good idea. He would have the conduit sealed and the keys destroyed, to make sure it could never again be used for evil.

But if he were to do that, it would prevent the souls of the dead from ever reaching the afterlife! They would wander the path between life and death, suffering for eternity! I can not let him do this... the conduit must be repaired, not sealed!"

"Proof?! What proof can I give you?"

The Druid's vines lash violently, in responce to the druid's fury.

"If you had been to the spirit realm... if you had seen the chaos at work there.. then you'd know as well as I do that the conduit must be repaired!"

The druid's anger subsides.

"but to do that we'd need the other key..."
