GRAND ADVENTURE Role-playing and turn-based combat game

ADVENTURE!!!!!

Okay, this forum game is based on a board game me and some friends thought up (and by that I mean it is bastardized from 3.5 DnD)

The point of this game is to lead the characters on a quest to the ends of the earth, defeat the villain, and steal his TREASURE. The plot is a bit more complicated than that, but I'm summarizing.

IMPORTANT: ESTABLISHED SESSION SCHEDULE

The Session will officially run any time from 3:00 pm to 10:30 pm PACIFIC TIME (Universal Coordinated Time minus Eight Hours), Unless otherwise specified by the DM (longer session time on weekends is probable)

Outside of this time the thread can still be used for questions, discussion, and character creation (if currently permitted).

HOW TO PLAY

creating your character

Each character has a race, a class, as well as various stats and abilities.
These specifics will determine how they do in combat as well as how NPCs react to them.

ROLEPLAYING (describing your actions outside of combat)
Once the dungeon master (ME) has announced that the quest has begun, each player may make posts describing what their character does in the established situation (turn order is first-come-first-serve). Once enough players have made a post, the DM will describe the results of their actions, as well as the actions of any NPCs present.

FIGHTING (actions made when in combat)
When the game enters combat mode, a grid-based display will appear to describe the character's placement on the battleground.

Spoiler: EXAMPLE: (click to show/hide)

During combat you can:
MAKE ONE MOVE: move one tile in any direction on the grid (including diagonals)
and
DO ONE ACTION: perform an ability, strike an adjecant enemy, or throw an object from your inventory. You can also attempt to resolve the conflict with words, though some enemies can not be reasoned with! (elves...)

CHARACTER CREATION (see second post for player list and character creation rules)

Character stattributes:

Strength: this determines the damage done by your STRIKE action and powers any melee abilities
Endurance: this determines your max health points and powers any defensive abilities
Agility: this powers your ranged attacks, and allows you to perform more actions in one turn (at high levels)
Wisdom: this powers healing spells and other beneficial magic. It also allows you to resist certain magic spells.
Cunning: This powers attack spells and other trickery.
Charisma: This powers manipulation spells and affects how NPCs react to you.

RACES: your race determines the stats you start off with.

DWARF: S:5,E:5,A:1,W:3,Cu:3,Ch:1
Proud and stoic race from the mountainhomes.

HUMAN: S:3,E:3,A:3,W:3,Cu:3,Ch:3
Ambitious and adaptable race from the plains.

ELF: S:1,E:1,A:5,W:3,Cu:3,Ch:5
swift and delicate race from the forests.

GOBLIN: S:5,E:3,A:3,W:1,Cu:5,Ch:1
Crafty and malicous race from the caverns.

ORC: S:5,E:5,A:1,W:1,Cu:5,Ch:1
Brutal and cunning race from the caverns.

SIDHE: S:1,E:3,A:5,W:1,Cu:5,Ch:3
mysterious and tricksy folk from the deep woods.

Spoiler: CLASS LIST (click to show/hide)

EDIT: after going over some of the finer details of game mechanics, I've got to ask... does this game belong here, or in ROLL-TO-DODGE? Because there are some actions determined by dice rolling... but these are mostly combat actions, separate from roleplaying actions.

okay now that that's over with...

STATE OF THE QUEST

WORLD 2-1: ELVEN FOREST (Secred Groves)

OUR HEROES have cleansed the woods of their chaos, and have started their trek INTO THE MOUNTAINS

Heh, looks interesting

Name: Raith Darkwaters
Gender: Male
Race: Goblin
S:5,E:3,A:3,W:1,Cu:5,Ch:1
Class: Warrior
Appearance/personality:
3'6", slick black greaser hair, red eyes, forest green skin. Raith is not your average goblin. While most are fearless berzerker, Raith is cowardly, avoiding combat when preferable and often uses his cunning to maneuver to safety . Though he will charge into danger, it is often to get away from a bigger problem. Although cowardly, when cornered Raith become extremely competent. He is very willing to work with other (although this is mostly to have more people between him bigger things), but his upbringing has made him wary of other non-goblins. He had also implanted boars tusks in his mouth to make him more intimidating.

Is there room for me?
Próthaa Fratalí
Female
Elven Priest
She is extremely beautiful, however, to an Elf she is only decently good looking. Still, she is charismatic, and isn't afraid to exploit any living thing for her own gain. She only became a priest so that, if she were to commit a crime in her home town, no one would suspect her.

Well, since we didn't get a limit on how many players you'd want. I'll go ahead and see about signing up.

Swiftwind, The female elf ranger. ;)
Thin, immortal beauty, preferably clad in camoflague green, Swiftwind prefers to fight her battles at range, using arrows. Her close cropped blond hair easily shows off her pointed ears, and she thinks it a matter of pride that all elves are better archers than any other race. At least, that is what she believes, even if it may or may not be correct.

Hmm, I'm guessing he'll take from 4-6 players, but who knows. I suggest gladiatorial death matches to weed out extra players, as well as serving as a combat tutorial!

Player list is finalized.

(Exception: I am expecting a personal friend of mine to log on and create a character, but he is unable to do so due to troubles with internet connection. When he is able to, I will find a way to introduce him into the Party...)

QUEST PROGRESS

after having sorted out the other occupants of your over crowded cell, you begin to gain a stronger hold of your surroundings. As your eyes adjust to the darkness, you notice three things present in your current area.

There is a decaying skeleton lying in one corner of the room
There is a Wooden door on the far end of the room. The door is affixed with a goblin-made lock.
There is a hole in the cieling ten feet up, with a thin wooden trapdoor over it.

Objective: You must cooperate to escape the cell. There is not much else you can do.

BEGIN TURN

Why does it say Jorn? That name works, I guess, but having multiple Jorns might be weird.
Also, I loot the skeleton when no one else is looking and take what I can use or sell.

Why does it say Jorn?

whoops. Copy and paste error!

I loot the skeleton when no one else is looking and take what I can use or sell.

The skeleton's clothing is too decayed to be useable, but you find several unusually sharp bones.
Who knows, they may come in handy.
