I vote we go in the direction that gets us armor soonest.

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

Armor is useful 'cuz you need to keep your soldiers alive long enough to get stat boosts.  Gauss is alright, but depending on the difficulty is next to useless against xarquids . . . that makes capturing touched-down battleships packed with loot very difficult :(

in personal experience. you can bring anything you want into a fight with lobster men. You'll only walk out of it if you brought gauss pistols *shrugs*

Gauss damage versus lobstermen is reduced by 70%, according to the wiki.  Maybe a high rof makes up for that . . .

I have taken lobstermen down with conventional + gauss weapons on experienced difficulty. it requires the use of a tank, your soldiers in a firing line just out of their sight and lots of dakka

and a few explosions don't hurt(you)

The best way of dealing with lobstermen is vibroblades (and m.c.).  I wouldn't try your tactic in the closed confines of a dreadnought or alien base . . .

You know, we could just put them in a really big pot (or room) full of water, and just boil them.

The Dwarf Fortress solution.

Edit: Hey, lobstermen are basically a renewable resource, right? If they go good with a little butter and a lemon wedge, we could probably end world hunger. The edibility of lobstermen should be our next research project.

Lobstermen are awfully hard to take down... And aquatoids don't make raids anymore. Which means no vibro blades for me :( they make me really miss mutons.

At the moment I am using gauss rifles, lots of them. What is your suggestion to fight them, considering that I don't have a live tasoth yet ( no M.C.) and chances to get vibro blades are equally slim?
would heavy use of alien stun weapons be good enough?

What is the best weapon to get more dakka? sonic weapons are strong, but lack auto fire, so it seem they aren't dakka enough. Do gauss cannons have auto shoot?
I only wish I met them underwater instead of in terror missions... at least I would be safe from their pincers.

not sure what location has to do with their pincers. these things are basically armored chrysilids that don't reproduce and can shoot you instead. they also like to use grenades.

alien stun launcher is very effective against them (twice the "damage") so it would only take a shot or two at most to take them down. but the problem with that is the first few you take down this way will probably get back up before you finish the mission and even though they wont have weapons. they are fast and armed with their claws.

also stun bombs tend to be uncommon so you probably cant muster many of them.

if you dont care about destroying their loadouts, bring an "executioner" or two. people who have grenades or an auto cannon with HE rounds. shoot the unconscious alien for an instant kill.

underwater I am safe from pincers because I have mag. ion armor, which allowes my soldiers to float in water above their heads.which is the perfect defense against melee attacks.
I'll try to push research toward alien stun weapons then. death to the lobstermen!
