I just started a game myself... and all I get underwater are lobster men, which are a nightmare. how lucky.

I wish you better luck.

well this is why it takes a month to research medkits. superhuman is doable but requires tons of min/maxing

STORY UPDATE
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It took me about five tries to do this without losing half the team to grenades, shots aimed at civillians, shots aimed at the tank, deep ones shooting over walls, and stuck in the closet gill-men.

good job, personally i wouldn't worry about reloading on the first terror mission too much. I had to do so a few times when "Trying something stupid" to avoid characters being sniped in reaction fire by cyber discs.

looks like it went well and you got that needed live deep one. just be sure to research the dead one first.

I'm pretty sure that our CO wasn't a hulking, chain gun wielding Austrian.
Captain Heyreddin Barbarossa would like a word (or three?) with you.

Here I am.

I'm pretty sure that was the effect of early X-Com propaganda. Though Austrian is way off, Commander Anya Snow is all Canadian.

And It's Decision Time! What Tech Should We Research Next?

Note however, that TFTD has a rather.... Convoluted tech tree. researching things in the wrong order can mean disaster, and if you don't get a live deep one, the game is unwinable (hence me taking a lot of trouble to grab one early). So even if we have a piece of tech, researching it won't let us build it unless we research its prerequisites. For more on this mess, see this UFOpedia article.
Spoiler:  THE TECH TREE (click to show/hide)

We Have 85 scientists at the moment. I am going to assign 20 of them to either the dead deep one to get armor, or use them on sonic weaponry. the rest will be assigned to the winning vote. [/list]

I was thinking that a captain commands a rookie, you see.

Heyreddin votes for body armor. 'Tis good for you!

I vote for Gauss Technology, then Gauss Pistols and clip. Then get Deep One Corpse > Aqua Plastics > Plastic Aqua-Armor before getting Gauss Rifles.
