Is it just me or have there been a lot of natural big disasters lately?  Maybe it's just me.  Maybe I'm only noticing now because it has a chance to directly affect me.

I think it is more that we are still getting more media attention on it. But if you look back there are plenty of disasters years ago also. I think there is no connection :)

8.8 earthquake. Hawaii and Mexico will get hit in a few hours. If it reaches the Philipine and Australia, it will do so in a few hours as well. People are bound to be adaquately warned about this, unless they live in a cave, so the loss of life will be minimal and mostly limited to those that think that looting is a good idea, and those that think that protecting their things from being looted is a good idea.

There are always a shitload of natural disasters, the reason they seem to come in clusters is the same reason celebrities always seem to die in threes.

My cousins live in Hawaii.
Fuuu-

Wait, if it's the rest of the pacific, doesn't that mean all the people on the coast of asia are gonna get hit?

And Australia is gonna get hit?

Even Africa?

Well, the further it travels, the less powerful it'll be.  That's not to say it won't still be a big wave by the time it reaches there...

It's like that time of the month.

Only due to the lifespan of the Earth, could last a century.

Water's receding in Hawaii right now: live feed.

http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/Global/category.asp?C=176904&nav=menu55_1_1

I've been watching this on CNN for an hour and a half since 4pm and so far the largest wave they've gotten is like 8 feet, i would find a horror movie called "HYDROPHOBIA: WHEN KIDDIE POOLS ATTACK" more frightening.

Well... They have mountains and stuff to hide ontop of, right?

In Australia? Pfffft. They have large hills to hide out on.

That said, I'm in Melbourne, so the chances of this affecting me are slim. Not that I'm not worried.
