Overlord is going to be our main military leader...and it says she's completely helpless in stressful situations.

Huh...

Anyway, this looks good so far. I mean, it doesn't look like anything will go wrong immediately.

Anything interesting on the map?

OOC: The center of our area is essentially a hilltop, which is where I think we'll put our fortress.  There's also the source of a river, which will make for some interesting defenses.

IC:
4th Granite:

We have struck the material we desperately need finally, nearly seven stories below the earth.  The logistics of building this fortress grow tougher by the moment, and hopefully there is enough stone accessible for us to complete our work.

11th Granite:

100killer9 has killed a mountain goat.  I take this as a good sign of our fortunes here, and order a butchery set up along with a kitchen and still.  We will make a great stand here before all the races of the world.

15th Granite:

The beginning of our temporary wooden fortifications have been lain out.  We are removing as many trees from the area as possible to create the defensive wall.  Meanwhile we are digging as well for granite and for temporary workshop and living quarters.

15th Slate:

A month has passed since my last entry.  A great deal has happened, but most of it is boring.  We have continued work on the wooden wall, and have several workshops setup.  With so little labor we are unable to produce everything we need at this time, but I have managed to start production on a few beds and as soon as we have a  good handful of granite, I will start Zore on stone block production.

14th Felsite:

Our fortress continues to grow.  I am very impressed by 100killer9’s hunting prowess.  Our butcher has been quite unable to do much but cleave apart animals and tan their hides.  The good news is we have leather bags now.  Half our wall is finished and our first few granite blocks have been hewn out.  They are now assembled into our first staircases.  We will be using these and the wooden wall as scaffolding to make our keep.

Were those Rhesus pieces in that pile?

Also, yay for steel mace!

Also also, yay for plot advancement/all the stuff that happened while I cowered under the wagon from the stress of being a future military leader!

Let's make some M&M roasts.

How's the food supply going? Since I have the only cook/brewer, I feel obligated to ask.

Our food supplies are decent, not as great as I'd like.  Unless we start cooking booze and seeds though we won't have any cooked meals until the new farms get underway.

26th Felsite:

Our farms are under full production thanks to the great work of Mr. Brown.  We will soon have a greater variety to our food supplies, and just in time as spring is just about over and we will soon be entering into summer.  Our first winter will be here in just two short seasons, and undoubtedly we will get migrants sent from the fortress homes in the dead of winter.  If our mountain homes cannot feed them, we must.

2nd Hematite:

Our first successful brew of Prickle Berry Wine was brewed today.  It is not as good as the rum we have, but it is better than water.  As soon as we get some more barrels we can begin brewing in earnest.

8th Hematite:

I’m going to kill all these cats.  We have dead vermin all over our fortress, and we cannot dispose of them as fast as the cats kill them.  As such, our food area smells like rotting carcasses.

10th Malachite:

Our groundwork is completed, as nearly is our outer wall.  We have not spotted any enemies as of yet, but we are producing bone bolts from the massive supply of butchered animals we have.  So far, this has only increased the number of animals 100killer9 has brought in.  We are also in an excellent food situation for the same reasons.  We are prepared for any amount of incoming migrants.

Farming!

I make it a rule to cook ONLY the non-dwarven booze. That is, if there's no food left. First food, then non-dwarf booze. NEVER dwarf booze. Same for seeds. Non-dwarf seeds are the only seeds cooked.

So that's my suggestion for our food stockpile. Just a suggestion, though.

I'm trying to convserve our seeds in general (the outer fort walls will allow for topside farming within a protected area).

But we have already accidently cooked the first barrel of booze we made >_<.  Oh well, roasts happen I guess.  Especially roasts that defy logic (minced Prickle Berry Wine).
