Caution: Wall 'o' Text
Well, I've been having some particular recurring dreams again. I've been having these (sometimes waking dreams like flashbacks and augmentations to reality) for a good decade or so. I guess a nice brief description I can put it is:
The Ego-Verse I mentioned earlier, except now in a total sci-fi setting, apparently set in the 2600s (think exact date/time + 600 years), the elements involved are just about every conceivable game/sci-fi element/genre. So to put it, Star Wars meets Star Trek meets Doctor Who meets Final Fantasy games meets... and the list goes on.
In this realm, I was me, but a master pirate within and owning a decent sphere of influence; but despite the title, I was a decent Robin Hood-esque anti-hero with one hell of a reputation. Just as well, I had some companions too. You know, your usual troperiffic rag tag team with their own particular perks.
Of course, you have the badass normal (me), but after sufficient loads of crap happened, I tend to get enough levels in badassery, I actually (and somewhat literally) gain godlike abilities, allowing me to transcend time/space, and apparently die enough times, my team jokes around about it. There's even a "noodle incident" involving modifying a torpedo for a mission, and the damn thing exploding me to smithereens, requiring me to get reconstructed how the next members went from machine/computer to humanoids. 2 Cylon-like persocoms (but with fully biological bodies just like us; but manufactured by machines... Okay, they're practically Cylon rip-offs; but they're master hacking machines and such like you see in Ghost in the Shell. But somehow dveloped souls, and have made/raised a child. Still in active duty however.), there are also a pair of manufactured giant dragonflies with enough sentience to be functional party members; they used to be made as an organic transportation craft to bypass magnetic shields and such that would mess up machines and other craft. There was also the team heavy which was also a toblerone after we managed to get him to join the team (after he lost a best of 3 deathmatch against me after he attempted to hack one of the Cylon-ROs, and I caught him in the act; seeing he was really proficient in many skills almost beating me, I hired him to join my team.) and since he initially was a 7.5-foot tall skeleton wearing power armor; after he proved his worth after half a year of service, he was rewarded with a new body so he had flesh again; but his original armored-skeletal frame was preserved just in case. Also in the team was an old colleague during the early years of piracy that joined the team after a reunion. Skilled rogue and all. And last is basically the action girl of the team. Sweet as she looked she kicked ass. Apparently, she is also the "team alien" (which apparently looks perfectly human with the DNA and biology to back it up), despite the scope of this entire realm being an entire universe, or more than just 1 and timeline. Actually, it turned out she's part of an elder race and she's still in training with her "ancient" skills. Considering her vast knowledge of the universe (despite a rather rough and imprisoned life) she has lead everyone to a hidden sky-island community. You thought Avatar's Hallelujah Mountains were awesome, this place took the cake. This floating continent was the size of fucking Hawaii; and after enough time living amongst the locals, everyone learned much about the universe/multiverse/time/space/Heaven/Hell/You name it; everyone even learned how to cast magic in non-chanting/sacrificing/dramatic/over-the-top ways. Simply, the thought is all that matters, oh and MP is pretty much what you'd expect; one's spiritual willpower is MP; and oddly enough, getting high or drunk (and with better ingredients it works better) recovers this energy. Who'da thunk it?
But yeah. Some of my artwork has been inspired by these dreams; technology, scenery, and all. Funny thing is, I keep getting told to write stories based on them, but I have to refuse. As talented I could be with writing, and as immersive these dreams have gotten (very awesome BTW since 95% of the time they're both lucid and kinaesthetic (IE- all senses interactive)), I am not a fan of writing, or the process; but the engineering and architecture has attracted my attention more. See some of my designs. For example, awesome but impractical it appears to be, the 2-SAI bladecraft I made in Minecraft is one of them, as well as an airship design or 2.
It's like Avatar, except with alternate realities. I miss having these dreams. Nice to have them coming back though. They rocked. Each revisit is like a new episode/game.
Despite how much more other awesomeness this dream-verse contains; everyone just can't shut up about the floating islands. Yeah, I freaking punch out elder gods for a living while kicking the asses of politicians and crime lords into doing the right thing (or follow their promises, or pay me back a loan +interest) or get a kitty out of a tree on a daily basis, not to forget racing spacecraft through asteroid fields once in awhile; and these islands are the only thing they remember me talking about. Really?! C'mon. BTW, as many happy endings there may have been; apparently the fact it still follows many Real Life rules (close to the same laws we follow in this plane of existence), and there have been plenty of bad endings, tragic losses, etc. ...yeah. Not all flowery and happy happy as just about everyone I told about these dreams to seem to always think; just because a girl was involved in it. Floating islands and a girl, and all of a sudden that's all this crazy-ass recurring dream gets pigeonholed into being by outside perspective. :facpalm: For once, I'd like them to see what I've seen. They'd probably want to stay awake for the rest of their lives after spending a regular night's sleep time there.
Oh, and surprisingly enough, many of the other pirates and pirate communities, now that I think of it, seem to resemble Bay 12 frighteningly well.
I wonder if this dream world can be used as a form of shared consciousness? That's been a theory I've had since I realized it recurred far more often and for a longer length than I thought. Even when daydreaming. If it's a psychic ability/link, then it's a pretty awesome one.
On a regular day there, the Holy Shit Quotient was usually really high. But after enough time spent there, it becomes "Meh". Sorta like how Fry adjusts to the year 3000 in Futurama.
