Two major things.
First off, most of what's cited here is poorly chosen. Maybe... deliberately so? Seriously, a lot of this is in the goddamn Odyssey. There's no law that a ten year old can't buy that at Barns and Noble with his allowance (not that that would be normal).
Second, this -the article- is not to be taken at face value. It is now a warning against satanic imagery. It's an advertisement. Possibly paid by EA, I'd say, in fact I'm very surprised Dante's Inferno wasn't mentioned. They know that this is just going to get the games free publicity. It also cites the ESRB website, which seems more like salvaging the games from the opinions of people who will take the article seriously. Remember when EA actually paid people to protest Dante's Inferno? That's the kind of shit that's going down.
Anyway, that's all I have to say about the article. Now, remember the Odyssey reference earlier? Now, it's my opinion that it's 'okay', socially, to include offensive content as long as it's hard enough to understand, that people stupid enough to cause an uproar over it -rather than, say, put down your game/book/movie and not finish it- won't understand (or perhaps in the case of a game or long book, get to) the offensiveness in the first place. The problem video games are going through right now is that they're becoming popular enough that fundies hear about what's in them. Side note: I'm pretty sure not even all religious fundamentalists are as crazy as the ones we see. I can't help but wonder if it's just a few stupid ones giving them all a bad rap.
As a closing statement, I'm on some pretty strong pain medication right now, so sorry if any of this is poorly explained.
