Can't access my own site!?
« on: February 24, 2010, 05:15:18 pm »

Alright so, I've rebooted, restarted the Router, contacted the webhost (They say all is fine), i've waited 24 hours, I've tried a different PC on my router...

Nothing works, except for Proxy's, and I don't trust half the spam they kick out.

Others can access it, but only my system can - help?

I've been waiting over 48 hours and factory reset my router... I'm going to have to reset my website to setup-level at this rate. Which I am going to do by the month-end, (Next monday) if things don't straighten out. I've backed up my files... but i'm not sure if the databases will reinstate properly.

T'is worrying.

Have you tried something like OpenDNS?

If not for time outs, I do get *some* data across.

That's just... weird. Especially if it's persistant. It could be some very specific router problems at your ISP, but those are rare (although they do happen). You might want to send them an email.

Can you try a traceroute? (start->run->cmd  then type tracert www.myworld.hostzi.com)

(Yes I used to work helpdesk for an ISP, this is all second nature to me ;) )

I suspected that it could of been some sort of auto-block from my router, because I was having some connection issues with it. Or maybe I had done something too much, overloaded my router with requests for packets from the site, router thought it was an attack, blocked it.

So I thought, maybe it will lift at the turn of the month... and it did. Whatever the problem was, it's apparently gone, for now.

But, still, I'd like to hear what you have to say about the trace route, if you don't mind!

That traceroute looks fine, I get the exact same high pings (117 is kinda high, not too much though) at he.net.

I'm glad the problem has resolved itself, you'll probably want to look at your router next time it happens.
