Crash during leader succession (4.01.4)
« on: February 23, 2010, 09:43:55 pm »

Turns out that after a huge SWAT raid to my main base, my leader and many others ended up dead. I got the leader succession message, and then the game crashed. I don't quite remember the error message, but a set of them can be reproduced in the corrupted savefile. Can't even disband the LCS without stumbling upon a crash.

Where should I e-mail the file, for debugging purposes?

Sent!

Oh, found another bug, I think. Not a crash this time.

Investing in a business front is obviously greyed out if you have less than the required sum ($3000). However, when you do and it becomes available, if you purchase the upgrade you don't actually spend $3000, but quite a lot less.

How much less did you spend?

Ok, I got a problem. Suddenly I can't place my LCS members in vehicles anymore. At least, it's not showing up on the display... it still says that they are "on foot". The vehicle still seems to be used though. Weird!

File sent to jonathansfox@gmail.com  for debug purposes.

I split my squad up into separate vehicles and the game crashed during the missions.

Stuffed everyone back into 1 car, and everything seemed to solve itself. Still, wasn't sure what was going on for a while.

Also, I caused the game to crash when I visited a site 3 times in a row during the same day, with different squads. I'll mail the save

Ok, the game crashes when I try leaving the courthouse with seducer. I get the message:

Debug Assertion Failed!

P.rogram:
user/desktop/lcs (etcetc) crimesquad.exe
file c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 9.0\vc\include\vector
line 779
Expression: vector subscript out of range

For info on how you can cause an assertion failure, see the visual c++ documentation on asserts.
Press retry to debug the application

I've been meaning to just remove the ability to assign multiple cars to one squad. The game was originally designed to support it, but most people don't do it, there's all sorts of weird logic that results, and it's apparently also buggy. I think just forcing everyone in the squad to use the same car is easier. It'll also let us do cool things, like add motorcycles that can't be used with squads of more than two people. We could do it now, but then everyone who wants motorcycles would have more than one in a squad, and all those wear cases would occur.

Also, re: vector error: Thanks, I'll have to test the save to narrow it down.

all you need to reproduce the bug is press w, then have each squad exit the sites. Doing anything in between makes no difference.

I spent less than $300, I think. Don't remember the exact figure.

It's probably missing a zero when it deducts your money.

I had also a vector error with cars a few days ago. It occured when two squads used one car at the same day, when the message "squad 2 could not use car" should have shown up, the game crashed. I also cannot remove my liberals from the car anymore.
Shall I send the save?

Woah, deja vu. I just looked at both of those bugs last night from saves jasonred79 sent in. Nah, I don't need a save, since I know what both problems are. Removing Liberals from the car should be working, just not showing up properly -- input the commands to do it and then take a step of faith.

Yet another type of crash. Sent file to jon.
why is it always ME???? lol

Debug Assertion Failed.
Program:
... (etc etc) crimesquad.exe
file c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 9.0\vc\include\vector
line 779
Expression: vector subscript out of range

Again.

Error occurs when an officer attempts to arrest me during donation drive, and I kill him, and it makes the newspapers. To be precise, the error occurs after the 2nd newspaper article on the killing.

To reproduce it, just *W*ait until police confront someone, anyone, then kill policeman. (he can't run away, must kill). And when newspaper report comes up, BOOM.
