I honestly don't know what to tell you;  I've never had such problems before.  Granted, I've only ever done specific item triggers.

Can't you even mickey together your own random item creation?  Like I said, I have no experience with this thing, but it should have a command to roll a random number.  Then just take the output from that and assign an item to each number.

I COULD, but the If/Than/Else chain would be ridiculously long. Like, 400+ lines long.

I tried circumventing the problem a second ago by having a dummy unit right beside the unit die, drop from a random item set, and have the unit pick it up immediately.
It worked.
And then I ran into another problem!

For some unexplained and defective reason, you cannot set item drops to a unit with triggers, so my idea of having units be created and killed in a row is moot.

Seriously Blizzard, what the carp are you doing.
Your editor is missing things it should have, your B.Net is overrun with hackers, trolls and viruses, and the game itself is currently bugged (When playing on B.Net sometimes you will immediately get a fatal error which causes a CTD(And still adds a loss to your record, I might add!))
Please stop off-topic ranting. :/

I keep checking here seeing updates hoping its deon with some new feature for me to check out, or possibly a bugfix to a current game crashing bug from when I tested last week.   :D

The ****ed asian dotabots drove me away. I hear they drive a LOT of people away, and it's been proposed that their existence is the sole reason for the second death of Battlenet (the first was for a year or so after the release of WoW, before everyone realized it was retarded).

Set items to appropriate value levels. Creep drops have set value levels. Set the creeps you are going to kill to the appropriate level(s). Execute creeps. Let people pick up their own f***ing items. Who cares if the hero auto-picks it or not!? Why drive yourself nuts with pointless trivialities?

*sigh* Oh, Battlenet..  Now I remember why I can't stand you sometimes...
I was hosting my own game.  Since, you know, I can.
And the first two things I hear upon 99% of people joining?
"y not join bot gam?"
"u host [such and such map]" No question mark, not even a question phrase.  Certainly no "please".

On-Topic: Deon, where are you?  :/

just a bump to show interest is still around (although I sort of wonder if the progress was wiped by blizzard HERPDERP patch jobs)

I'm still very interested. I have to say that given the imminent release of Starcraft 2 (imminent being Jan 2011), it's unlikely this project will see completion on WC3. The new editor is supposed to be largely compatible (and better), after all.

Damn I had hope this was still going, I would have dug WC3 out from the bottom of my collection and install it again, JUST to play this map...

it was pretty cool playing the beta of it with deon but it had a couple strange bugs which didnt make sense when I was trying to help him figure out what was going wrong with rock crafting.
instant crashes would happen when the building was selected but it used the same system the other buildings did and they all worked fine.
(pretty simple system too, crashes should never have been possible)

Lately I've noticed that very few maps on WC3 are being developed anymore. Almost every mapmaker for WC3 is preparing for SC2. But also the mapmaking community has just died down in the many years that WC3 has been around. WC3 just isn't as popular anymore.

Oh yea, I definitely goofed saying it will be released in Jan '11. Actually, it will be released next month. Dead Space 2 is the space game scheduled for January. May every self-respecting nerd and/or Starcraft fan forgive me.

The good news is: 26 days 'til SC2!!

I quit making Wc3 maps after the last herpderp patch which broke maps.. it was right before I was about to release my wilderness survival map with (great looking) randomized terrain.
I had to cleverly abuse unit sizes and spawning with gradual terrain deformation.

That was you that made those? Cool. I helped with Phase Killer, Broken Alliances, Middle Earth Risk, and others, but the game just got stale.

it only got stale if you didnt have a lot of friends to play it with, I've been in the same wc3 clan for 5 years now, still talk to them daily and got a few of them playing DF.

the engine did have a lot you could do with it but the SC2 engine can do more, but they've changed the way terrain deformations work so I cant use my same technique on it.. atleast not without a tonne of extra work.

Eh, I ran a clan for several years, It's just that the population of people who join non-bot games decreased to the point that only my friends joined my games.

Which Wilderness Survival maps?  *The* Wilderness Survival maps?  There were a number of maps that focused on surviving in the wilderness, but I think there was only one series that was specifically called Wilderness Survival.

I got into the WC3 multiplayer scene not that long ago.  I'd avoided it because, well, because I suck at WC3 (and also because I'd had bad experiences with the population of Battle.net, courtesy of Diablo II).  Played a few maps, played a few more, got up to Corporal rank on one of the NotD servers...

And then I moved on to something else.  I'd really quite like to have a crowd of people I know and respect to play WC3 maps with, but I'd also like to know that there are some truly interesting co-op maps out there (not to mention ones that I might actually get good at).

I've never liked clans though.  Not in any game.  There's just something about the whole deal that doesn't sit well with me.
