I know, but I've needed to get it anyways for ages... loved Starcraft to death (literally... played it so much the disk broke :P ), but never really tried the WarCraft games... Ironically, I used to love WoW too :P

On the Wall is a Masterfully engraved carving of Urist McHardcastle and Goblins. Urist McHardcastle is surrounded by the Goblins. The Golbins are stamping on Urist McHardcastle. Urist McHardcaste is laughing at the Goblins. The carving related to the prolonged and bloody death of Urist McHardcastle in the Fall of 1659, the Winter of 1659, and the Spring of 1660. On the engraving is an image of Cheese.

Starcraft 2's editor will be the main reason I buy SC2, I wasnt a super huge fan of starcraft.  ;)

I'm personally wondering what sort of crazy improvements Sc2's editor will have compared to wc3's which has such an amazing ammount of flexibility already.  :o
edit:
I looked it up, and goddamn. http://alby13.blogspot.com/2009/08/battlenet-20-revealed-sc2-editor-vid.html

Yeah startcraft is going to be great  :) looking forward to it. Do you think you'll try an remake this for SC once you've gotten used to the editor?

EDIT: Any new updates over the weekend?

Not yet, some home stuff mostly :). It's easier to work during the week because I have more excuses not to participate in the family life.

I have a WCE GUI question, if anyone would be kind enough to help.

The action "Hero - Create (Random level 1 item-type) and give it to (Unit)" doesn't seem to work, no matter what way you come at it.
Is there any way to get this to work, or an alternative that isn't ridiculously frustrating?

I'm trying to get it to give six random items of a certain type (or level) to a hero, but custom items seem to not work.

Dropping them on the ground next to the hero is the accepted method for working around that. Random drops work very well, after all.

You can jury-rig it all kinds of ways, from generation and scripted deaths of completely invisible monsters to the destruction of invisible crates or use of preconstructed scripts.

(Woohoo, a technical question I could answer usefully!)

Godsdammit, this is so difficult.
Nothing wants to work properly!

All I want is to give six random items of a select type to a hero, and the editor seems to be built as to make this completely impossible!

I've tried creating it into his inventory, I've tried creating it on the ground and moving it to his inventory, I've tried using a dummy unit with a drop item set, killing it, and moving the item to his inventory, and nothing has worked!
GRRRRRrrRRrrghhhGHHHHHH!!!!

What I have discovered;
-You cannot move an item to a hero's inventory.
-You cannot do anything with the "Create Random Item" actions.
-The World Editor is retarded.

Can you give the hero unit a command to target the items for picking-up?  (This from someone with absolutely no experience with triggers in WC3)

yes, that would be the way to do it: "create (item) at position of (unit)", then "order (unit) to pick up last created item" should happen instantly

Except the "create random item" actions don't work at all.

Can't you even mickey together your own random item creation?  Like I said, I have no experience with this thing, but it should have a command to roll a random number.  Then just take the output from that and assign an item to each number.

I COULD, but the If/Than/Else chain would be ridiculously long. Like, 400+ lines long.

I tried circumventing the problem a second ago by having a dummy unit right beside the unit die, drop from a random item set, and have the unit pick it up immediately.
It worked.
And then I ran into another problem!

For some unexplained and defective reason, you cannot set item drops to a unit with triggers, so my idea of having units be created and killed in a row is moot.

Seriously Blizzard, what the carp are you doing.
Your editor is missing things it should have, your B.Net is overrun with hackers, trolls and viruses, and the game itself is currently bugged (When playing on B.Net sometimes you will immediately get a fatal error which causes a CTD(And still adds a loss to your record, I might add!))
