Genned it last night with Civilization Forge. The world is pretty different in a lot of ways, but you still get something kind of like the OP's site. Giant cliffs and a magma pipe, at least, with an underground pool in there somewhere.

Didn't get to play the site much, but it was interesting looking to say the least.

I found that raising the temperature min/max values doesn't affect the worldgen in the slightest, unless it causes a different amount of rejects. Right now I've tested +5 on both values, turning the place into a warm jungle-y biome. I suppose tropical isn't too far off, but setting min to 55 and max to 100 caused this one to be rejected, resulting in a completely different world.

edit: rainfall, on the other hand, messes up feature placement, so no rainforest. I'm going to try increasing minimum elevation by 1 to see how it affects the world. I guess you could fiddle around with these settings and get the layout you want - rainfall doesn't change the geometry of the site much. (though if you set minimum to 10, it gets a giant chasm right across the middle peak)

edit2: with minimum elevation set to 2, the world changes a lot, except for the global feature placements. The volcano is still there, the biomes are still there, the heightmap changes a bit. It's not all that different, but the mountain is more like a ridge now, even though still tengen topping the heavens at 124 levels. The magmapipe is in a different place now, but still rather accessible. I'm going to try genning this variation until the pipe in on top of the ridge. ;D

I'm going to try genning this variation until the pipe in on top of the ridge. ;D

That'd be wicked. Sure, magma pipes eventually refill, but having 115 tappable levels from the start rather than just 15 is superawesome.

Hm. I thought magma pipes stopped at 15 levels regardless- at least, the six or so levels of wall-enclosed Open Space I found above one I found a while ago would seem to imply so.

Actually, they seem to always be on the same level as the closest neighboring region tile. So to have one high above ground you'll have to have at least a 3x3 mountain of the same size.

Even more details on the worldgen, if ye don't mind.

So far, the results I got were these:

Changing minimum/maximum Elevation by even 1 changes the heightmaps for just about everything, although this particular site remains rather similar.
Changing minimum/maximum Rainfall within 10 units of the default value produced the same site with similar mineral makeup and different feature placement (there's still a volcano there though). Beyond 10 units completely changes the world's layout.
Changing X/Y Rainfall Variation within 10 units of the default value produces a rather similar site with slight heightmap variations, different feature placement and mineral makup. Beyond 10 units completely changes the world's layout.
Changing min/max Temperature by within 10 units of the default value produces the same site with a slightly different temperature. Beyond 10 units, oddly enough, again completely changes the world's layout.
Changing X/Y Temperature Variation by even 1 unit completely changes the world's layout.
Changing min/max Drainage by within 10 units seems to produce a similar site with a slightly different heightmap and different feature placement and mineral makeup. Beyond 10 units completely changes the world's layout.
Changing min/max Volcanism by even 1 unit completely changes the world's layout.
Changing Erosion Cycles doesn't seem to alter the world at all, except for the degree of the mountains' smoothiness.

I haven't been able to generate a better site yet, since different mineral makeup seems to coincide with different feature placement, and there ain't too much deviation from the default values that the worldgen allows without completely changing the world. And the goddam volcanoes always gravitate towards the tile edges!!!

also - I found one of the goblin towers south and to the east to have not as tall mountains, but wonderfully tight-packed features. and sand. and flux. and obsidian.

ymmv, since for me, the area around your site was terrifying, not happy-go-lucky hippy-dippy unicorn farts.

Got to play with it a bit more last night. Genning it with Civilization Forge gives you a site with easy to access magma (out in the plains, sadly), no sand, and no flux. You do get a giant bottomless pit in the mountain, though, and more gold then you'll know what to do with. There is also a good amount of copper, tetrahedrite and cassiterite so bronze is easy to make. Plus cobaltite and a fair amount of rock crystal, so Night Crystal will be easy to make due.

Overall...not bad. Not great, but not bad. I may try genning it with some different options, just to see what I can get. Hopefully one where the magma is closer in or a decent cave river is available. Sand and/or flux would be nice as well.

I think I will make my fortress in the hole. The walls will be made out of obsidian, and each level will have windows made of green glass. The bottom level will have a dumping hole

These cliffs are just unnatural! :D I love it. Just embarked, had the same issue as Slink where it just threw the stuff there and I have no cart. I embarked on a 6x9 though in order to get the HFS. (Edit: Thanks for sharing this, Sean!)

Played around with various world-gen tweaks. Managed to get one with Obsidian cliffs instead of the andesite/felsite ones I had before. And another with an Evil biome around it and black sand. Currently using the one with sand, since fighting off Ogres and Werewolves is fun.

Damn imps just torched the land, though, so everyone is hiding inside. Sadly, this happened before I could get everything inside from the wagon. So I just lost some wood, seeds, and two barrels of turtles. :(
