Jailbreaking and such
« on: February 22, 2010, 02:21:56 pm »

To make fortress life more interesting I use chains for my prisoners. This way they can tantrum and damage things while in jail, instead of being beyond space and time in a cell.

By putting these chains in groups (i prefer groups of three) I get fist fights, prison shivings, extended sentences ... and jailbreaks. The dwarves tantrum and destroy their chains or eachothers chains (not sure how it works, only that prisoners have escaped) combined with their extended sentences and promises of future beatings - the situation quickly escalates into police brutality.

Other things I do for fun is to put the support of my fortress ... on supports. Enabling tantrumers or building destroyers to wreck segments of - or huge parts of my fortress. Though they've yet to do so to a great extent.
It's fun as hell! Do you do anything like it?

I know that, reading this, there now needs to be something like this in a future update. Prisoners that try to escape! Cruel fortress guards abusing the prisoners! A lawyer profession (okay not so much that one)!

It actually sounds really interesting, but seeing as I don't have a Fortress Guard and I murder my Hammerdwarf as soon as he arrives, I probably won't do it this particular fortress. Maybe the next one, though.

Oh boy, something else for the magma chamber, for when you get tired of charring nobles and elves.

Well the lawyer would be a noble.  You could go into the justice menu and have the lawyer use the random word generator to explain how a hauler with only hauling enabled failed to make 3 glass tables.

Also, an elf lawyer noble = 3 strikes and is sent strait to the hammerer upon entering site.

If you had a defense lawyer, you would need an Attorney General as well, wouldn't you? And perhaps even a judge, once you reach a certain size.
