Of course I fully expect Cow to say 'I'll be the bigger man and refuse to even acknowledge whether I was right or wrong, but instead make a show of stepping down, complete with a snide comment about how I am the bigger man, to avoid having to make anything resembling a rational argument'.'
Im afraid not.

You can call me an idiot for thinking that family guy is funny.

But you are the one who dosent like it becuase you think you have something to prove.

Like I've said before, in this very thread:

I don't care too much about Family Guy. Ask me how I feel about it and I'll make fun of it for its low-brow humor and its attempts at being edgy, but how much do I really care about it? Not much at all.

But you come in here and try and claim that we can't be right because you like and make some terrible, logically unsound claims as to why and if you honestly thought anyone was going to let that slide, well...

So yes, I will argue with you, and it's because of the way you approach things like this, not because Family Guy is my own personal Hell. Explaining why I don't like it is simply something I did to prove to you that there are people out there willing to argue logically. Perhaps it'll rub off on you.

Some of it's funny, but mostly it ends up with passing by, leaving me saying 'what the <EXPLETIVE> was THAT!?'.

Nice try Jackrabbit but you cant worm your way out of the argument that easily.

This is not the post of someone who doesnt care:

But that's the main problem. How the hell am I supposed to enjoy something when the show treats me like an idiot who'll giggle when they throw a dozen unrelated examples of random violence and people acting like idiots at me that have no real point? And then you tell me to 'get off my high horse'. Maybe I'm on said horse because I can see Family Guy for what it really is. Entertainment for Frat Boys who've stayed up all night and are now so wasted they'd laugh at a motionless lemon and for 10 year old children who think it's 'edgy' because of the sex and the tried-and-true (sarcasm should be apparent):
'Oh my God look at that man stealing things!'
'You think just because that persons <insert ethnicity here> they steal things? That's horrible!'
Haha get it he's being racist without meaning to be haha. I swear I've seen that joke pop up like a dozen times, but that was when I was ten and thought it was 'edgy'.

I'm not a fucking 10 year old, so if the show wants to aim for the lowest common denominator, don't whine when I call it out on it.
But that's one thing I can give to Family Guy. They don't whine, they laugh at their own stupidity and I can respect that in a roundabout way.

You, CowOfDoom, seem incapable of believing people could possibly find something you like bad, and then set about trying to defend it with claims that are a hair's breadth from "You just don't get it!"

If anything I could say I care less about it then you. ;)

Cow, what is this Argument you speak of? It has eluded me completely, perhaps you could point it out again?

Back to the discussion, Family Guy has always been pretty much the same. They've always used the same jokes, same types of plot, blah blah blah. It's just that when it came out, said jokes were shiny and new, even if incredibly stupid. We laughed because it was new.

When the same jokes are thrown at us continuously for a few years, most of us tend to get bored of them. Family Guy's jokes have been overused to the point of death, but Seth keeps shaking their clattering, dried-up remains at us like some sort of voodoo charm. Frankly, I'm surprised that the show is still so popular.

Okay, first off, read this.

So yes, I will argue with you, and it's because of the way you approach things like this, not because Family Guy is my own personal Hell. Explaining why I don't like it is simply something I did to prove to you that there are people out there willing to argue logically. Perhaps it'll rub off on you.

Now read it again.

So yes, I will argue with you, and it's because of the way you approach things like this, not because Family Guy is my own personal Hell. Explaining why I don't like it is simply something I did to prove to you that there are people out there willing to argue logically. Perhaps it'll rub off on you.

Do you understand why I made the post now? Let me answer that for you.

Explaining why I don't like it is simply something I did to prove to you that there are people out there willing to argue logically. Perhaps it'll rub off on you.

See? You claimed this:
Family guy is hilarious.

Your all like "Yah sure I laughed at it and had a grand old time, but the show is really stupid and the jokes dont go along with the plot so I dont like it."

Seriously you people need to get off your high horses.

You also didn't explain why we were wrong and how we were all stuck up about it, apart from a snide comment that I'm not sure you didn't write before even reading the thread, because people clearly explained why they didn't like it, and they certainly didn't say that they love watching it but also hate it (and could you please explain how the hell you figured out/made up that little oxymoron?). You made no sense. You always do this, jumping into a discussion simply to play the devils advocate for no reason I can discern. Perhaps you simply enjoy opposing people or getting into arguments? I don't want to jump to any conclusions here; that would be wrong, wouldn't it? So I decided, hey, why the hell do I have to put up with your drive-by disagreement? I wanted you to provide clarification and provide it now. So, mainly to prevent you claiming that I had no idea what I was talking about (don't pretend you wouldn't, you're the person who claimed that 'you guys just don't know how to have fun'), I decided to tell you exactly why I don't like Family Guy. I do not have anything to prove (and once again could you explain your reasoning behind that bizarre little statement?). I simply wanted to make it clear to you I didn't just 'not know how to have fun'. If I seemed particularly vindictive or harsh about it (and yes, I think that I did), it's because I'm currently taking the day off due to pain and inflammation in a place which, in a perfect world, the words pain and inflammation would never apply, ever. So my temper's a bit short right now and I am in no mood to pussyfoot around here.

And yet you still seem to miss some key points in my little tirade, namely:

I'm not a fucking 10 year old, so if the show wants to aim for the lowest common denominator, don't whine when I call it out on it.
But that's one thing I can give to Family Guy. They don't whine, they laugh at their own stupidity and I can respect that in a roundabout way.

Get it? I don't care overmuch about Family Guy, and I ignore it when I can, and I do appreciate that Seth admits that he relies too much on lolrandum cuts to unrelated things. Family Guy can go be on TV far away from me should I wish it and that suits me fine. The main problem I had, and I'm kind of confused that you missed this, is that:

You, CowOfDoom, seem incapable of believing people could possibly find something you like bad, and then set about trying to defend it with claims that are a hair's breadth from "You just don't get it!"

That's my main problem right there. Your ridiculous means of getting into arguments, which usually breaks down into the following.

"No, you're wrong!"
And then someone asks for a qualification to that statement.
"Because it's funny/bad/awesome/I like it! And you have to be wrong because my opinion differs to yours!"

Even now you're not responding to this argument, or even trying to explain why you think we're wrong for not liking Family Guy (apparently being critical is wrong? I'll add that to the list of things I'd like you to explain), but instead you focus on how much I don't like Family Guy (which is not overmuch, I feel) and how this is, for some reason, a dreadful thing (and I'll add that to the list too).

Tl;dr Cow has always annoyed me and I'm not going to pull any punches calling him out on exactly why he annoys me, because I am in quite a lot of pain and therefore angry, and don't see why I should even if I wasn't.

I'm a minor, for a start, and I'm overtly angry not because I'm smashed, but for a variety of reasons, not least of which is severe pain in my testicles (there, I said it).

Exactly.  If you think you might have consumed too much alcohol, smigenboger, you probably want to do something about it like ask a friend to drive you to the hospital or somesuch.

I believe I'm fine, as of now. I stopped with the brandy, andf am working on pizza and soda to make the hangover not as horrible...I got to double vision, which I'ved been bdfore, but that's about the point I've stopped. I haven't been this drunk without a woman in a while, and there's no point in continuing without one anywaym so I'dd be working on sobering up at this point...

Thasnks to the DF c ommunity for dealing with it...lol...
