Dabi: The immediate concern is the "libGL error: open DRM failed" error. This means you don't have direct hardware acceleration; you should fix that immediately, as it means opengl is much slower than it could be. It's a DRM permissions problem; ask about it in your distro's IRC channel, it should be easy to fix.

It still shouldn't crash, though. That's probably ARB_sync; if you grab the newest -head, I now have an option in init.txt for that. (It defaults to off, so you don't need to toggle it.)

I thought I should warn you that it says ON for me at default.

I'm pretty much half-asleep as it is 3:12 AM.
I'll try to fix this in the morning but first i tried googling as im lazy, all i found was mode 0666 which didn't work.
The problem isnt in STANDARD anymore :)...i don't know what brang this on though.

Oh and i get Segmentation fault, i guess its a combination of this current issue as my card is directx10 capable.

PS: I tried OPENGL 3d gear text, it worked and most things point towards it working...but this doesn't...hm

That one implies that you managed to get the dwarfort.exe from the update tarball, but not libgraphics. Try again, this time correctly - and check the timestamp on libs/libgraphics.so.

I finally got text mode working. ;D

In case anyone else had my problem: It turns out that I didn't have a UTF-8 locale set (or any at all), which broke things. Setting my locale to en_CA.utf-8 fixed it.

Two issues on a windows install:

First, using F11 to go to fullscreen from windowed mode does not change the font specification if you're using different fonts. (using the window maximize button does)

Second, pressing F11 to go to windowed mode from fullscreen does not properly resize the text.  e.g. if you view a dwarf's thoughts in fullscreen mode, and press f11, the text will overwrite the border and be cut off.

I'm using partial:0.  the fullscreen font is 16x16, the windowed font is 640x300.  Both are autosized.  Let me know if you need any additional details

Using the window maximize button should not change the font. Using F11 should. Are you *sure* that's what happens? How about if you press the F10 display-reset button?

Some screens do not deal well with resizing yet. You'll have to live with that; those are toady's bugs to fix, not mine, and again they're screens that have likely been rewritten for DF2010 already.


On the bugfix front, I fixed the broken backspace in text-mode. I'm delaying fixing the keybinding screen, as I'd just end up rewriting it - I'm making that screen much nicer first.

Well, I'm not certain what was _causing_ the issue, that was supposition.  It's also possible that it was simply stretching the font in a weird way.   (actually, that seems more like what I was seeing in retrospect.)

Here's the really weird issue.  Neither problem occurs today, even though in my testing last night, I could consistently reproduce it (and I took a screenshot of the second issue, so I know I'm not nuts)

Today, when I go from fullscreen to windowed mode using f11 while viewing a dwarf's preferences , the fullscreen fontsize remains for about a second before properly resizing the contents of the screen.

If in my playing I experience this problem again, is there anything you'd like me to test?

A bitof lag while opengl reinitializes is normal, so not unless the more persistent problem happens again.

Okay, shader-mode now supports graphical tilesets too.

I'm uncertain how well (I don't use them myself, but I did check with mayday's), since I'm uncertaint if this ugliness is supposed to be there or not. ^^;

So have a go at it, see for yourself.

Oh, and graphical shader-mode is currently quite inefficient. Turn on ARB_SYNC if at all possible. This won't affect it when using normal tilesets.

Depends on toady.

I just fixed the keybinding screen - it now explains how to use it, and is generally much nicer, plus it works in text-mode now - which was the last item on my to-fix list. It's over to him now. :)

Good timing, I guess. :P

Incidentally, -head users beware: Trying to enter the keybinding screen will now cause a segfault. dwarfort.exe needs a recompile.

I think I found a bug as this has happened twice in a row:

Try rubbing a cat on it, that seems to help.
