Right, but they could just give laptops to the students who dont have them like most schools would do with calculators, rather then give them out to everyone.

Maybe they figured that everyone would say they can't get to a PC because "Free laptop!" and decided to skip the middle man? I know some kids who would lie like that.

I don't think the people responsible for the pictures actually had corrupt intentions in this.  They were probably just overzealous moral guardians who didn't know about privacy rights or where their powers ended.

Yeah a few might. But not nearly as many as you would think. They could just rent them out and have them be returned at the end of the year for a small fee.

Regardless of if their parents approve of that sort of thing or not, they probably wouldn't want you watching it.

That is probably the reason. Moral guardians are so annoying.

Man, I would have killed for a school that dedicated to interactive learning and functionality.  My highschool spent easily that much money on football equipment and event-coordinated uniforms.

Like the people the idiots tried to obliquely mention, I would have also made webcam footage of my balls to make them stop watching.

 My highschool had laptops. Of course, they consisted of like twenty that were always locked in a trolley that never left specific classrooms and were rarely used for anything other than mayhaps writing a paper in Physics class, but laptops are getting more popular in schools these days. It was only a matter of time before children were given permission to take 'em home and do what they will with 'em.

 Although I am wondering what brand laptops they were using. Was it a bunch of semi-cheap laptops with barely enough power to be used for academic reasons or some Macs? It is rather easy for me to imagine this crap being pulled with a Mac, but considering the costs and this being the American school system anything that isn't cheap as hell is foreign to me.

It said they were Mac laptops.  That alone is enough to make me refuse to take one.
