Does anyone know any really long and excellent comics with an overarching storyline? You know, ones with hundreds or a few thousand comics - Sam & Fuzzy, Order Of The Stick, Gunnerkrigg Court, MegaTokyo? Better if they're obscure - less chance of me already knowing them, you see.

Schlock Mercenary.  A funny as Hell, family safe, galaxy spanning science fiction epic like Larry Niven or Doc Smith could only dream off.  It's a daily strip that's been going with just the one author for almost ten years, without fail or "hiatus", with a sharp punchline in every one.

Riceboy isn't as long as some webcomics out there, but it has a fairly cohesive plot from start to finish. It is one of the few webcomics I've bothered reading through in its entirety .

Ah, Rice Boy! I remember that, it was very enjoyable. And very moving, especially the bit with the One Electronic or whatnot.
I'll check out SM. I think I read Sluggy once and didn't like it.

MegaTokyo is terrible ouh god.

Now only thing I'd recommend that's big with an overarching story is MS Paint Adventures but that's pretty popular and you may know of it already.

Megatyko was better before the writing team split up.

El Goonish Shive is pretty fun. Nice combination of humor and action. It finished it first story arc about whoa, maybe a year ago, so its probably well under way in its second story.

Shortpack is an interesting soap opera about retail bitches in a small toy store. Interesting mix of comedy and DRAMA LAMA! But a good watchable drama. It also gets an asshole sapient car that works the stock room.

There also my up coming web comic that very shonen jump, super martial art drama action. Its current title is Heroship.

We open with the death the Main Hero at the hand of one of the other protagonist over a vortex  in the middle of the ocean. We see them how anyone who knows Shonen Jump magna, will be at the end. Stupidly powerful, kicking ass. Before we show the three character meeting up. Hopefully it'll serve as a teaser, and its a self contained story if no one reads it.

I find this comic strangely hilarious.  Also, vast agreement on the hatred of Megatokyo.  I used to read it in middle school, but then it all went to hell.
