> Do it again

You try to cast the spell again towards him. (Magic: Glyphs) (Glyph of Life + Glyph of Projectiles) (1-20=-19) (-19<10) (-19<0) (Critical Failure!)

Instead of fizzling out, the spell now explodes in your face, sending you flying towards the wall behind you. You are injured, but you just barely manage to stay awake. As you stare at the man you seem to notice an inscription on the ring's stone. With enough squinting, you manage to make out this:

Actually, if we used projectile alone, I think it would create only a projectile of magical energy, as with the balls, back at Cacame's. It was only balls IIRC?

Cast life rune on self.
Also, Armok, stop metagaming dammit.

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

Just a Glyph of Projectiles would be like a strong gust of wind, or something like that. Pushes and pulls. Glyph of Balls, in the absence of another glyph to determine material (such as Glyph of Fire) would be a Magic Missile-esque purple energy ball to bounce around and throw at people.

You're supposed to know this, so it's not metagaming to make use of this info. Most of what I tell you guys is stuff you should know.

Hum. Inscriptions on stone...

> Look for more inscriptions. Slowly.

You never know, there could be more co-ordinates, which might make a map, which may lead to pie.

So, yeah. Probably a good idea to find more inscriptions.

Instead of waiting for them to finish their drinking session, you walk in and crush a goblet while berating their disgusting behaviour and general incompetence.

((Hmm. Well, I'll just skip to the end of this room to speed things up. Turns out you guys don't like puzzles that much.))

You go through the door and end up in a long hallway. There's a door on the other end, and over it hangs a man in a ragged loincloth, shackled by his ankles and wrists, which are attached to chains running through slots in the wall. You see copious whip marks on the body, and his hands seem to have had large nails driven through them. He looks up at you with pleading eyes. It is obvious that he is in a great deal of pain.

What do you do?

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

Obviously, he's not real, or he was pretending to be someone he's not... that's why they shoved nails in his hands, whipped him and strung him up for everyone to see.

I say Fire + Projectile:  end him, the criminal.
