he wouldn't have shown us those books if they were not to be used.
Nobody showed us the forbidden books... if that's what you are referring to...

But I'm beginning to like the idea of freezing time once more if only to finish studying the books to see if we can reverse the darkening.  Although, the darkening seems to only be happening to us... and we apparently appear normal to them.

Going to have to go with:
> Command time to stop
> Examine scroll the rebel is about to read
> Return to "forbidden" library, look around for books resembling the one that mindraped us.

Time stop seems the only option, but it's possible it will bring the end of us.
> Do not stop time if it feels like you are about to be possessed.
 > If successful... Go read books in the library that will tell you what is going on, and read a couple just for the sake of improving your outlook. Once you are sure you are stable, brave the forbidden section again. Might want to just start with the normal stuff.
 > If failed... Ask, innocently, why the templars hate magic so much. Whether they answer or not, tell them you're willing to switch sides, since their's sounds like more better.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

> Command time to stop

Summoning the powers of the deep, you command time to stop once more and the world takes on a purplish hue.

> Examine scroll the rebel is about to read

There is a large empty square in the middle of the scroll, and some glyph symbols on the side. Also, someone seems to have written down a to-do list onto it. You rifle through the man's pockets, and you find a few letters enclosed in envelopes (you do not open them yet), a child's crayon drawing of his father and himself standing in a field of flowers (folded up carefully and placed in an inner pocket), and a small, worn teddybear (size of a fist) in his backpack. You do not search his person further than that, though.

> Read NON-restricted books.

You read them. They are all the insane gibberings of various fanatical extremists. In one however, someone seems to have carefully hollowed the book out and placed a smooth stone slab in it.

Read the forbidden books, look at the slab in the hollowed out book, open the envelopes, and hurry, I suspect there must be some sort of limit on our time stopping power.

Didn't we already break their knees? Anyway, binding the rebels is good.
