> Test projectile+life on one stone tree and projectile+life on another, then attempt projectile+life+void+balls on a third.

First you try casting the Projectile and Life glyphs together. (Magic: Glyphs) (Glyph of Life + Glyph of Projectiles) (97-40=57) (57>10) (Success! 97xp gained!) They mystic symbols form a shining white and golden yellow wisp in your hand, which you send towards a nearby stone tree. The area the mote hit immediately blooms into life, luscious brown bark almost pulsating with life appearing where the stone had once been. The effect spreads over the tree until the while tree lives again, but the effect lasts only some minutes until it fades away back to cold, lifeless stone.

Excited by your powers, you try to cast it once more (Magic: Glyphs) (Glyph of Life + Glyph of Projectiles) (78-40=38) (38>10) (Success! 91xp gained!) and once again you succeed. However like the previous it lingers only for a few minutes.

You next try casting a more complicated spell, curious of the result (Magic: Glyphs) (Glyph of Life + Glyph of Projectiles + Glyph of Void + Glyph of Balls) (43-40=3) (3<25) (Failure!), but it simply fizzles in your hand.

Magic is very nice! Keep it!
Thank the elf, and bid him farewell. Then go down the ramp.

No! Don't go just yet!
I say stay and rest here for a few days.

But for now, test out all the posible combinations of 2 glyphs on varius trees.

Do you really want to test all the 42 combinations available? It might take some time...

Yes, but try and be careful, especially with expansion+fire. And definitely with expansion+void!

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Only do combinations that have projectile attached and are aimed at trees!

Alright, thank the elf, and ask if there's anything we can do for him.

> But for now, test out all the possible combinations of 2 glyphs on various trees.

You try casting the Ball and Projectile glyphs at a tree. (Magic: Glyphs) (Glyph of Balls + Glyph of Projectiles) (12-40=-28) (-28<10) (-28<0) (-28<-20) (SUPER CRITICAL FAILURE!)

You create a fist-sized ball of energy in your hand, which glows with a purple color. Encouraged by this, you create another, and make the balls split and form more. Soon six energetic missiles are orbiting around your hand, and, satisfied, you stop their growth and duplication.

Except you can't. Try as you might, the balls continue to grow and replicate, constantly sapping energy and life from your body. As they reach the dozens your legs can no longer bear you, and you kneel in your fatigue as the orbs suck energy from your body mercilessly. Your vision begins to darken and your breathing becomes laboured.

The balls have now reached the hundreds, and they draw yet more and more life from you, bringing you closer to death. You now lie on the stone ground, cold as ice, unable to move, staring fearfully at the sky, praying silently to whatever gods are out there to bring you mercy. You can feel your own body growing colder, like the lifeless stone grass under you. A dull thudding beats your ears, and with sharp stabs of pain blood gushes out of your ears, escaping your body with terrifying speed. Within seconds you find yourself lying in a pool of crimson, and the air around you has grown so, so cold...

Well, you guys managed Projectile+Life twice. It's just bad luck, I guess...
