> Tell them we were summoned here by the templars who think you are here to save them. They gave you this armor to defeat the rebels, but you are unsure of conditions, so you are being overly protective.  You were in the library trying to find out as much as you can about this world in order to make a wise decision on what actions to take next... but you people keep interrupting me!

The rebels look at you for a moment, surprised, then laugh. The leader says, between bouts of laughter,

"And we're supposed to believe that? Oh, that's rich! Everyone knows the Church hunts mages and all magic. You torture supporters to death. You exile anyone writing books on magic and mages except your own. You burn the newborns that you think are magical. So that's just bullshit. Nice try. You templars won't get away this time. No, we'll end this reign of terror."

The person fumbling seems to have found it, and brings out a small pouch and a scroll. The leader nods toward him, and he approaches you with the pouch, handing the leader the scroll. The knife on your throat digs a bit deeper, and the holder is breathing a bit heavier.

(gah, the voice!  it burns us, don't you see this?)  Though it makes me wonder why they want to kill you if you are using magic and it's so banned...

"Having faith" that the bridge will not fall, implies that the bridge itself isn't that trustworthy. It's not that different from "I pray that the bridge will hold my weight."

No violence. It would be pretty certain death, I think.  Expansion, too slow. So is fire. Projectile could work, but could be dangerous. Also, The Voice makes up feel more and more disconnected, and I think it is somehow related to either ancient mages, or demonic powers.

E:And IIRC we didn't have any scrolls.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.
