> Lick wounds

You wonder how you could possibly lick yourself in the back.

> Go up the ramp

You go up the ramp and end  up in a forest clearing. The grass and the shrubs however are made of stone and a thick ring of stone trees surround the area. A river once flowed down one side, here, but has now been locked in eternal ice.

It's only after several minutes that you notice the elf before you, slightly off to one side, leaning on a stone tree. He wears a set of robes, and has relatively short blond hair down to his neck. A puppy sits near him, panting but otherwise silent. Around him is a circle of green and life, where the stone grass becomes live and green, the trees flourish and the river flows once more. You can hear birds chirping pleasant melodies within and the circle is filled with a sweet, flowery scent. Outside the circle, however, is the cold, sterile and frozen stone landscape. Here, outside the small sanctuary surrounding the elf, you smell the unpleasant stench of rotting flesh.

Even though your stomach is grumbling, you do not think it would be a good idea to eat the elf's dog. The elf looks at you and beckons for you to come closer. He smiles, very slightly, but only with his mouth and his eyes are devoid of expression.

Just out of curiosity, what DOES Dwarf Fortress smell like?
Death, Booze, and Insanity.
Ladders are absolutely essential for one reason and one reason only:

Welcome, friends to Slaves to Armok III: Snakes and Ladders.
