A Tribal Game - Game over!
« on: February 19, 2010, 10:59:32 am »

Alright, so, a number of tribe games started. One with roleplaying, one with collaborative management. I have plenty of RP going on, so I want to start an abstracted stats game.

Victory Conditions
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Rules
Or: How the game is played
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Actions

Starting conditions

Other than that, conversation is permitted, but try to be clear about what is conversation, fluff and actions. Try to always include actions in a post. I prefer people who do first, then ask for permission to people who ask for permission, then do.

Rules as defined:

Terrain capacity

Map

Will be enlarged later. Numbers represent starting areas from 1-5.

Players
1: RNG
2: Quinnr
3: Haika - ocean style!
4: Nevyn
5: 100Killer9 - volcano style!

Waiting list: TheCatfish

Action List (as of, Feb 23)

Good luck with yours over here. I'm going to attempt to draw up a map for my one in a few, if you want me to whip you one up too I'll be more than happy to.

Also if you're low on players give me a shout and I'll sign up.

For my game I just went into MS paint and drew the hexagons up. It can be frustrating to work with, but it allows more control than GIMP or Paint.net... though their layers would be a big help.

Anyway, I guess I'll join this one.

Actually there's a quick way to create Hexagons in GIMP.

Filters>Distort>Mosaic
-Hexagon
-Tile Size: Whatever
-Tile Height: Whatever
-Tile Spacing: 1 or 2
-Tile Neatness: 100
-Light Direction: Whatever
-Colour Variation 0

-Anti Aliasing Yes
-Color Averaging Yes
-All Others: No

Quick Example
Original:

Hexagonned:

I only Hexagonned the top right of the Original but yeah it works.

Alright, the map is up (using GIMP, thanks to Catfish). If it's too hard to read, I will alter it for the next turn.

There's definitely room for you Catfish :)

And welcome to the game RNG! You can request a different number if you like.

I guess I'll give this a shot, seems interesting if it gets off the ground.

Would it be possible to revive my merfolk idea and start a tribe underwater?

It would. I will need to create a water tile with 4 in food capacity. You see the river mouth for the starting location of 3? That one will get some sort of bonus so you can actually start with your full pop size. Probably a kelp forest + fish (Rivers do not affect ocean areas, after all).

Now, as merfolk, I assume that means you cannot travel on land?

For the time being, the ocean does not contain any features, beyond coastlines. This might change once the game starts. Still, it should be possible to thrive in the sea, with coasts giving 2 food.

Sounds good to me. and yep, I figure it will need some sort of technological advance way down the line to move on land, just as it would be for land based tribes to move underwater. sort of a reverse submarine/diving bell type thing.

This is assuming I don't end up with remote controlled giant crab warriors or something.. heh

Done 100killer9!

I think the catfish wil get either spot 2 or 4, since it's taking a long time to find players for this.
