Xbox 360 problems
« on: February 18, 2010, 05:26:16 pm »

I just bought a controller for my Xbox, my Xbox doesnt seem to pick up the signal, I turn on the controller and it just blinks, nothing comes up about a second controller being there it justs blinks and blinks. My guess is that my original Xbox and controller are from the US while im living in the Uk and I bought the controller in the Uk.

Tried the small button that scans for new controllers?

Press that while pressing the corresponding one on the controller.

For the ps3 I'm pretty sure you have to connect the controller to the console for it to be recognised as belonging to that box, otherwise it wont connect. Least thats what i had to do with all mine.

I had a friend who bought a 360 controller and coudln't figure this out, he assumed it was broken and took it back to the shop, they had to explain to him that it wasnt broke, he just needed to sync it to the console :P

So your solution to fixing the controller problem is buying a $500 paperweight?

Not at all.  I bought a PS3 because it was the only one of the two major consoles that wasn't just a dumbed down gaming PC.  If I want to play X-Box exclusives I can get them on PC.

There are plenty of 360 games that don't come to PC. And saying that the 360 is a dumbed down PC, but the ps3 isnt is a bit silly. They both do the same things. They both have their good and bad points. For example, the ps3 has a handfull of decent exclusives, and the rest of the multiplatform games usually run worse on it.

No you see the 360 is actually a dumbed down gaming PC.  The reason multiplatform games often don't run as well on PS3 is not because it's weaker than the 360, it's actually potentially stronger.  It's because it's got an unusual architecture that makes it harder to develop for.

Though really with 512 MB of RAM it might be pushing it to call the 360 a gaming PC.

Ok, I'll admit I was exaggerating about 360 not having any exclusives.  Here's a list on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Xbox_360-only_games

Of course some of these games are remakes, some of these games just haven't been ported yet, and most of these games I don't even care about.  Earth Defense Force was fun but not something I'd buy a 360 for, Dead Rising looked cool, but it's sequel is coming out on PC.

To be fair the list of exclusive ps3 games is equally crap :)

Well the first post gave the only sensible solution.

Unless of course he doesn't get any video display either in which case it would be because the hdmi cable has fallen out, I have no idea why the box sits there with controllers blinking when that happens but it does. He probably would have mentioned that though.
