Deus Ex 3
« on: February 18, 2010, 12:15:52 am »

Anyone else here anticipating the release of Deus Ex 3 besides me? What really got me pumped about it was the fact that the teaser trailer actually has enough juice in it to tell you a bit on what the game's going to be about. And I'm just a big fan of the Deus Ex series, regardless of what you say about Invisible War. There's patches and mods to "fix" the design flaws.

If you disagree, then you may kindly SUCK IT, SUCK IT DOWN!

Hm, from what I heard the lead designer on this project hated Deus Ex, so no, I'm not very interested.

No, he hated certain features of Deus Ex.

It's which features those were that's killed my interest.

The stealth, needing to think all the time, and the GURPS-style skill system. And the pacing.
So he can go f**k himself.

From what I heard, the community on this game is horrible and yell you to suck it down if you don't agree with them.

So dies my interest. Deus Ex 1 remains one of my favorite games of all time.

I... fuck him. Fuck him to death in the ass. Those are the features that -made- that game, besides the atmosphere. But the atmosphere wouldn't have been shit without the mechanics in place.

Each sequel gradually brings the series farther away from its success. Presumably Deus Ex 8 will be a touchscreen anime puzzle game.

Don't be ridiculous, puzzle games require too much thinking.

It'll be a bright and fluffy Pop-Cap style game.

Deus Ex 1 was extremely fun, loved it. Deus Ex 2 was a nightmare. It was so bad, they took out almost everything that made the first one good. Scratch that, they did take out everything that made the first one good. The sequel was so bad that it wasn't even humorously bad, it was just bad. Bad enough to make me angry.   >:(

Well, it wasn't all bad. Just bad in the areas that mattered.

Universal ammo - Retarded.
Much smaller areas than the original - Retarded Engine.
Stealth - Retarded.
Most of the guns - Retarded.
Main Plot - Retarded.

The new bio-mod system - Not Retarded.
Being able to choose gender - Not important, really, but nice to have it.

Well the thing about DX2 is that it was a console game.

Huh? How does being released on more than one system make a game bad?

DX2 was actually a pretty good game... until you compare it to the original. The Biomods were changed for the better, but the stealth element was basically removed, and the universal ammo was probably the worst change I have ever seen in a series. The original far surpassed it in both gameplay and story(especially story...) but DX2 is still far better than the majority of FPS's out there.

Worst parts of DX2 by far: Using a carefully modified sniper rifle, I took out two enemies in an apartment building, before either one could trigger an alarm... but all the friendly guards turned hostile anyway. Plus, I found a way to both kill the creator of the mag rail AND obtain it... and the game ignored my accomplishment, acting as if the scientist had survived. Also the game crashes whenever I enter the area before meeting JC(as far as I know), but that is a minor problem comparatively.[/annoyed rant]
