I could see someone modding the beards into the only means of attack for both races and then having them fight in the arena test mode thingy.

I could imagine that things like these (types of beards) would depend on the civilizations they come from sooner or later.

It's a semi serious suggestion    I suspect that bearded elves are one of the ways Toady wants to seperate DF elves from the standard elves (and maybe make them more like cannibal hippies), which is cool, but since dwarves and (probably) humans will have beards too, that seems like, well, too much hair.  Maybe some humans and elves could cut theirs short due to personal taste or naturally have goatees due to genetics.

Although yes, it would probably be easy enough to mod this.  But it wouldn't be as satisfying

Eventually, there will probably be both genetic and cultural differences for stuff like that.  It's not like every human on the planet is capable of growing a full beard, either.
