Dathgale hasn't even tried DF?  Seriously? ???

I am inclined to agree.

If you haven't tried DF, you are truly a heathen.

Even dark gnomes try df between their guzzling attempts.

P.S. To be serious: you came here to suggest us to try Battlement. We suggest you to try DF. We're in the same plate ;).

P.P.S. You have to expect negative comments with a title "Battlement is released" as though as we were expecting it for a long time. "Battlement" would drag a bit less attention but less negative comments as well.

What I know about Dathgale is that he's posted here for a while and I recognize his name.  That's all the attention I've paid.  In fact, I don't recognize your name.  So who are you? :D

I am a fellow DF player  ;D

I hang out in the other games section mostly, although I do go out into the DF section sometimes.

Like everyone else has said, this is essentially the Dwarf Fortress forums. Take a look at the size and number of forums dedicated to every other non Bay12 game, compared to the number of forums, posts, and topics on Dwarf Fortress. We post here to share free and good games with the community, such as Space Station 13, Mount and Blade, Elona, and others.

Seriously, try Dwarf Fortress. Even if you don't like it, its something you have to try.

I lurked on these forums for about a year or more before I actually posted, and it was two years or so (since I had begun lurking) before I even played DF.

That being said, what gets me about this guy's posts is that they're snarky and demanding. Like, "Hey, I'm giving you something free, you should be thanking me"! Did you want a parade?

I never expected thanks at all, and since it seems that you treat everyone in such a hostile manner, it's all good.

Guys, come on, chill out. The guy had a fey mood, made a game, just wants some support. He could, potentially, bring more people into the roguelike-enjoyers fold, which in turn may bring new people into Dwarf Fortress that would never have even dreamed about it before.

He posted it in "Other Games", and not some other place in the forums where it would've been utterly inappropriate. His game is technically an "other game". If you're reading this board at all, it is likely because you enjoy "other games".

Why do we all have to read the worst motivations into other people when all Toady wants on these forums is for all of us to be chill?

Yeah.  Way to foster a civilized environment conducive to rational thought.

Sorry Dathgale, you're really not catching us at a good moment...   We're not actually trying to be pricks, we've just been losing our edge at the whole "hospitality" thing lately.  Give us a chance to calm down a bit, and you'll start seeing a little more level-headedness sink through eventually.

Key word being "eventually".  I've been here a couple years now.
