Whole Embarks

Has anyone used the entire embark screen. Not the 4*4, but the entire thing.

I always embark on 16x16 sites. My current fortress on such a site has a population of over 100 and I still get over 40FPS.

I embarked with 120 dwarves and on a chasm. The 40 pages of creatures can really crash DF.

he has a wimpy computer. I could embark on an entire region tile and stil have fps>80.

How in Armok's name? I'm lucky if I get ~20 FPS on a normal sized, featureless, no megaproject, 100-ish dwarf map.

good comp, mine allows at least 50 fps full 16*16 embark well into play, its a plain vista x64-bit comp from last year, i usually have the fps cap at 200-300 and it runs well till about 50 dwarves.

I tried it; I got it to load, but even with my monster, I get ~15 FPS.

Then again, I was also trying an island nation out. Of course, damn aquifers held me back from doing anything serious, as well as annoying framerate.
