Ever played an FPS and wondered what it would be like to actually be fighting a war? Actually determining the outcome of the battle as a unit?

Ever played an RTS and wondered what it would be like to play as one of your soldiers? Taking orders and working together to take objectives?

Savage 2 is an attempt at just that kind of gameplay. You play as a soldier in battles with up to 100 other people on the same battlefield. As you accumulate battlefield experience, you can play stronger units and make more of an impact.

Each side also has a commander. The commander can manage resources and build buildings. He gains a birds-eye view of the battle field and is usually relied on for coordination.

It is free to play but don't be turned off because of the "Prime accounts." They make little to no impact in the game and it is still a fun experience without them.

Anybody else played before and want to give their two cents?

I did always want a game like that, yes.

This isn't it, though.

Natural Selection did it first, and more to my liking.  Empires Mod did it closer to Savage but also more to my liking.  There really ought to be more of these though.  What would be cool is a fantasy game with commander controlled AI troops as well as player controlled elite units and you could also build walls and siege towers and flying units.  Someday hopefully...  What ever happened to that game that was supposed to be like Battlefield Fantasy?

I preferred the original savage, although I stopped playing that after there were no more non SFE servers. After I finally got SFE and played on those servers I was completely unable to command because I had a completely blank slate command record, the only teams that would vote for me as commander were the bad ones, and as a result I got a terrible record so I could only command bad teams, was a vicious cycle.
