I've been hovering for almost a year ::), guess it's time to rear my ugly face :P. So hi to everyone out there, not sure how many there are...
One question: How many new people do you get around here? ???

Hehe, he guys. Capntastic, was that you accusing people of hovering in the most recent dwarf fortress talk? Cause I think thats the main reason I joined.

I'm much the same, I mean to eventually get into some kind of forum game but that would require some kind of commitment.

Everytime I see a new devlog post I think "Could this be the time we get the new version?"

It never is  :'(

Yeah, I was under the impression that there would be a new version soon when I found this game. I watched all freakin 42 of those tutorial videos, and still couldn't remember much when it came to playing it. I kinda put off mastering the game with the idea that everything would change very soon anyway, and now I wish I hadn't  :-[ .

Never actually watched those videos. I learnt by losing lol.

First fortress was lost to a goblin ambush, although I have never had a tantrum spiral which is nice (or not depending on your sense of Fun).

Meh, learn by doing.. I've tried at Nist Akath a bunch of times I always lose my place.. In Nist Akath that's a serious problem 0.0

I'm more of the same (mostly through ambush or sieges).
Did come close to having fun with tantrum spiral, but always manage to bring it "back from the brink" (record was just 2 dwarf left).
Of course, that involved walling off entire section of the fortress, then decided NOT to accept any immigrations.
Then, both died of cave-in.

One of the toads decided to go for a swim in the moat - presumably because he could path through the moat to my dwarves. He is not charging in, just loitering in the moat.

The toad is having a nice relaxing swim.
The goblin mounted on his back, however, is drowning.

My first game I never figured out how to mine... I beleive I was eaten by carp.. Then, after having no clue what to do, I quit. I then found better graphix packs, and I belief I still have the save that only has 5 dwarfs, still on the embark wagon.

I recall lurking the forums for four-ish months, joining in September, but then not actively posting until like November. I'm surprised we don't have a 'Introduce yourself here!' thread or something similar, actually. Or maybe we do and it's in the non-DF General Discussion and I just haven't ventured down there to check :\
