Yea, I'd say she's pretty damn good at jumping. Kobolds are. Assisins and thieves as well trained as she are, and she specializes in getting around, which itself is quite relevant to jumping.

Your putting it this way kind of places her in a completely different light. So, she's kind of cool, and tough, and badass?...  :) I like it.

She eats scrap metal for breakfast. In a toughness battle between Bruce Willis and Bruce Lee, Nliru wins.

EDIT: Slightly exaggerating :) But I like how she gets whiny at times. That adds a sympathetic note.

Quote from: Othor II
- Let's see stones, - said Vig, pointing in the direction of the towering blocks of the stone circle.
- Alright, - said Amlemth. He looked at the halfling and the kobold for their approval. They were squinting away from each other, the former grumpy, the latter stern. However, Nliru noticed Amlemth's look and glanced at him with a momentarily warmer expression.
- Oh, I guess, - she said. - It looks intriguing.
After some hesitation, Will shrugged, and the party started away. Nliru walked in front briskly and Will shuffled behind, Amlemth and Vig separating them from each other. Intuitively they kept to the middle of the street - there the shadows were a little thinner, but the moonlight, showering the houses on the opposite side of the street, didn't expose them that much. For several minutes no one spoke. As black windows kept staring at the adventurers, the awkward silence slowly turned into its eerie kind. Finally, Amlemth cleared his throat.
- So, do you reckon they could spare a furnace for me for a day or two?
Nliru gave a little jerk and half-turned at Amlemth. But his question wasn't addressed at anyone in particular, and no one answered.
- I mean, - continued Amlemth with a stale cheerfulness, - for example, I promised to forge a torch-holder for Will, remember?
- Uh-huh, - said Will.
- And, hm, as long as we're on the subject, I could make something for each of you... You can start asking. What would you like, Vig? - he nudged his companion.
- Uh, - said Vig, frowning at Amlemth. - I don't know.
Amlemth scratched his cheek, observing Vig thoughtfully.
- How about a new axe?
Vig grasped his weapon, startled.
- No! My is good.
- Oh, - said Amlemth. He pondered some more. - Well, then maybe some armour? You know, yours looks a bit flimsy. Now if you changed mail for sturdy plate, like what I have, you wouldn't have to worry about protection any more. Besides, it allows for engravings and now you've got a rare opportunity to order a specific pattern from the master...
- No! - exclaimed Vig in alarm, covering his chest with his hands, while Will giggled behind them. As Amlemth lifted his hands in defeat, Vig nodded his head back. - Ask him.
- What? Me? - said Will. - Well, I don't mind. You know what - I want you to make me-
But he didn't finish, as the company came upon one of the tree-houses, and halted to admire it for a moment.
From closer up, it could be seen that the lower part was a real tree trunk, quite stumpy and cracked. It went like a thick column to the height of the second storey of surrounding buildings. There, the majority of its branches started, and formed the strange bulb - they were bent up and kept in this shape by a wrapping of animal hides, crudely sewn together with sinews. However, the work appeared to be quite thorough and draft-proof. There were two holes cut in the sides of the tree-house, with edges trimmed with bone. From the bottom of the larger hole a rope ladder was hanging down.
I'm tired of backstories. And, I've remembered that I promised to my contributors many wonderful decisions to be made, but it hasn't come up much. And I've listened to and watched several good DnD games recently (on the internet), and it occurred to me that they are quite entertaining and full of shenanigans in the way I'd like to have in my story.
So, I'd like to try and bring more role-play here. To help the story move along easier. It should have started before this update, but I felt I had to start the characters in the right direction.
Are you up for it? If so, here is your chance to direct your character's actions, choices and moods.
Also, I fear that due to the scarcity of updates, some of the characters might have been abandoned... Maybe I should ask if anyone outside would like to claim one of the characters. But I'll wait for some time to see who of the original authors are willing to play.

Well, You're writing Nliru so well there is really nothing to change!  ;)
She'd probably come up with a long list of things she wanted smithed,  probably including a few suprising/odd ones.

Hmm...I guess I'd be up for Roleplaying. Even though you're probably doing a better job at my character than I would XD

Uh. Have had some internet problems just when I decided that I was on a direct route to victory. Oh well, you can't have all you want.

So, good to see Jervous here. I think that's everyone. I doubt Org is going to join us - he wasn't very happy the last time. He submitted a worthy character... I haven't developed Will very well, but hopefully I'll be able to, and someone will be willing to grab him.

To roleplaying and recap. Our party of four has just entered the city of Romistra on a quest to retrieve a legendary armour Kosh Zustash. The city appears to have been abandoned by its citizens. A guardhouse we've visited was empty and had seemingly been left in haste. As our scout found out, the city has two distinct points - a stone circle and a castle. The street we're on leads to the stone circle. We've just approached a construction that represents one aspect of city architecture - a tree house. It has a rope ladder to the ground, and a rope walkway leading across the street, connecting the house to others of its kind. They are interspersed with normal houses. By the way, to this point we've passed several houses, and let's assume the doors were locked.

The party:
Vígúlfr Sveinnson, human, a noble leader - Dwarf
Amlemth Duran, human, a gallant warsmith - Jervous
Fithgnliru, kobold, a touchy scout - Armok
William Flynn, halfling, a daring bard - ... me, for the time being.

And I'm going to take my turn.

I partly regret that I didn't employ my lockpicking skills when we were passing all those locked doors. On the other hand, I don't want to look a hypocrite with everything I've been throwing at Nliru. I guess I'll roll with everyone, although I'd much rather break into each of those creepy dark houses. They're giving me the chills... Well, maybe we'll just be able to slip past anything that's caused Romistra to become abandoned. Or there isn't anything at all.
I'm voting for sending Nliru up to the tree houses. I feel constrained when she's close by. And let's finally get to the stone circle. I can't wait to throw my perception. :)

Let's see how it will work out.

I slowly slide my axe out of it's holder [a ring in which you slide the axe] and ready it in my hand and sliding my hand into the lanyard. With the other hand, I ready my shield and hold my sax, ready for whenever I need it for a surprise stab. I clearly feel a tension in the air.
Instead of staring up into the tree, I turn around and, with a mixture of anxiety and watchful nervousness, closely observing everything which seems to move.

And so we've arrived here.
Quote from: Othor II
Nliru walked out from behind the corner and towards the ladder. The lowest step was just within her reach. Looking up at it, she said:
- Boots. On springs. That's what I need. All this jumping is killing me.
She leaped up and grabbed onto the ladder. Gaps between the steps were just wide enough to make conventional ascent unmanageable for her. Nliru grunted and moved to the side rope.
Suddenly Vig spun around the way the company had come, gripping his shield with his hand. The noise of his movement startled Nliru who almost released her grasp, sending the ladder swinging violently.
- What is it? - said Will, slowly backing behind the broad figure of Vig.
Vig lifted his arm, already with his axe in it. The company peered into the shadows.
With only their breathing filling the air, they could just hear it - a rustle of grass, a skittering on the ground and on the pavement. Then, from a thin gap between houses several fathoms away, the source of the sound emerged. Glossy coarse fur, long slithering tails, sharp teeth and alertly vibrating whiskers.
- Rats, - said Will.
Several rodents trotted into the street, and one after another started crossing into a crack in the basement of a house on the other side. They didn't seem so well, for once and again one of them would stumble, as if unable to coordinate its legs properly.
- Poor beasts, - said Amlemth.
Vig lowered his axe, watching the last creature disappear in the crack.
- Just rats, - he said.
- Just rats? - repeated Nliru incredulously, climbing a step up the ladder. - These beasts are vicious! - she saw her companions' disbelieving looks. - They can be fast as hey. And when there are several of them... - she shivered. - I think I'd rather follow you by tops.
Nliru quickly clambered up the side rope of the ladder.
Vig considered the situation for a moment.
- Yes. Warn us when you see something.
- Alright, - said Nliru. She got over the threshold and disappeared inside the bulge of the house.
Meanwhile Amlemth observed Will, who was still sticking close to Vig' shield, nervously glancing about.
- Would you like to join her, dear Will?
The halfling looked up at his companion with a jerk. Then smiled.
- No. I can handle any rat.
Amlemth smiled back.

Ah, I haven't waited for all the authors to speak. I hope you don't feel cheated. I thought I'd infuse more movement into the story. While there is time and weekend.
