Urst McMiner and the case of the missing magma
« on: February 13, 2010, 10:49:37 am »

I've received the message that a magma pipe was found, but...
It's just not there. No warm stone, no obsidian.
I've done extensive exploratory mining on the second to bottom
layer.
So who stole my magma, and where did they hide it?

It's a random bug, I got also, just dig into where you got the message from.

Oh, don't expect Urist McMiner to survive.

The warm stone is not on the same z level, in this case it's above or below your miner.

Have you tried mining a ramp? What could possibly go wrong?

What kind of statues are your masons making, that you think they have "maximum exposure"?
(Full frontal ones, apparently.  With very short beards.)

This happened to me as well. I figured, okay then, I'll just dig forward a tile at a time until it tells me one is hot. So my miner dug until he breached the magma pipe and there went my fortress. I was just thrilled.

Moral of the story:  put the booze stockpile there.

(Or install a door, either way, right?)
