Moving on.  I remember seeing a fort a long time ago that would up with an artifact mechanism and an artifact giant axe blade.  The requisite trap could send bronze colossus parts flying up into the fortress rafters.

I think I remember reading somewhere about an artifact adamatine corkscrew and an artifcact adamantine mechanism...

I just got an artifact adamantine mace, maybe I need to stick it in a weapon trap. Suppose I should give everybody in the fort a bit of engineering skill and then pray for some artifact mechanisms.
