I see. I shall raid Agroprom then :V. Thanks for the tip.

So uh, how does the AKM compare to the AK-47? The AK-47 is much harder to find.

The Spetsnaz use AK-74s in Apgroprom so there should be plenty to loot. They're usually all scoped and silenced as well. I haven't gotten much use out of the AKM since they don't use the more common 5.45x99mm rounds that are so common at the start of the game. They're decent guns if you have the ammo for them though and the military grunts use them so they're very easy to replace.

I mean the AK-47, I haven't met any military person that has used them, I can get them for 8 vodkas though.

No idea. I'm assuming it's not great however since it's a damn ancient model. I'm assuming it's in the game since the AK-47 is the most commonly known assault rifle and is almost always associated with "The East". I'd say it'll be an inferior AK-74 with no attachments that has an extremely high durability level and almost never jams. I'm surprised higher level bandits don't use AK-47s, makes more sense than SMGs.

Well the AKM is more of a successor to the AK-47 than the AK-74 is; they use the same ammunition.

Oh and have you tried the AK-107 or something like that? It's pricey as hell. It uses the 7.62 ammo (the same as the AKM).

Not that I can remember, it has been a while since the last time I've fire up Stalkersoup. I generally stray away from "unique" expensive guns in Stalkersoup since they're such a pain in the arse to repair. I'm sure there's a translated gun guide on the net somewhere. I've been trying to avoid it though since I'm trying to play "organically", only learning through experience rather than guides.

Oooh a gun guide? I'll check it out, thanks!

EDIT: Google isn't helping.

This must be wrong in the game.

AK-47 uses the 7.62x39mm.

The progression of the AK line is AK-47 > AKM(7.62x39mm) -> AK-74(conversion to 5.45x39mm) -> AK-107 (5.45x39mm aswell)

The AKM uses 7.62x39mm, just like the AK-47, I guess it's like that for simplification reasons.

Also I found an AK-47 on a bandit (which I killed while he was sleeping), it looks like the bandits do use the AK-47!

The AK-47 does use 7.62x39mm in real life.

The AK-74 uses the 5.45 tho.

Yeah the ammunition for AK-74 is 5.45.

Also I'm raiding Agroprom's base right now, after trading with the Sherstyuk military guy next to the base. Man the Abakan Sniper is AWESOME. Also some Spetsnaz have kobra sighted AKS-74s, wow.

I uh, raided Agroprom and killed all the military scum I could find, I had a ton of silencers, scopes, and grenade launchers, and two SKAT-9Ms, but no SKAT-10Ms. I must have bad luck.

After a CTD last night I decided not to play again, then this morning I tried opening STALKER SoC, it crashes right on startup, even after I disable the gamedata files. Rebooting my computer didn't work, it just crashes right after the opening cinematic, help guys?

It's an ACCESS_VIOLATION error, with no stacktraces at all, I really don't know what to do here.

Having -noprefetch -nointro in the target is the usual band-aid fix. If you're still getting errors copy the error log and post it on the Stalkersoup steam group page, technobacon always takes an interest in crashes and offers support. He's one dedicated modder.

I already tried -noprefetch and -nointro

There's not much of an error log to speak of, and it's affecting my vanilla game too, so it doesn't look like a STALKERSOUP problem.
