Man, I hate that thing. Its the one that pulls your screen about right? I emptied a clip into it and it just kept coming.

When using a rifle you have to step out, snap off a few shots and step back in before the mindfuck starts. And then repeat that about 30 times.

Which is why people advocate a rocket launcher. It's just a lot less tedious. But if you break LOS before he really winds up, you interrupt his attack.

I personally threw all my grenades to the end of the corridor the first time I played, and was lucky enough to turn him to gibblets immediately.

First time I saw that controller I was completely out of ammo and 'nades.
I did the only sensible action ... panicked and ran straight down the hall with my knife out and shanked the bastard!

Was never able to replicate it again, must of gotten really lucky ... or the ai bugged out.

Yeah, knifing them is the safest way, or grenades, especially since ones in vanilla SoC don't have a melee attack, the other games made sure to fix this tho :(

I realized the high pitched whining sound was the buildup to his attack and did that. It was still futile despite unloading my rifle into him repeatedly.

I still prefer the knife.

And shotguns.

Pseudogiants, on the other hand...

Pseudogiants, on the other hand...

Are absolutely terrifying up close.

I just wish it wasn't so hard to spot anomalies when it's super dark out. Many a time have I run directly into an anomaly because I didn't see it.
I at least figured out that headshots can actually kill someone in one hit, though I feel like my pistol being silenced doesn't actually have any effect.

Canon wise most of the anomalies are supposed to pretty much be completely invisible. Save the fruit punch or witches jelly and such.

Use your bolts, like a stalker should be.

First time I saw a Controller, it astonished me so much that I actually let it kill me. That hasn't happened in a game before. I was so shocked I couldn't do anything.

Obviously, the Controller's psi attacks came out of the computer and hit you.

... Yes, the hugs are for everyone.  No stabbing, though.  Just hugs.

I'll note that unlike a lot of modern shooters, a headshot to 90% of the Zone's creatures will result in said creature dying. The last 10% is stuff like the Dwarves or Pseudogiants that has an extra-thick skull or no discernible head.

Killing Controllers is difficult. Your best bet is to use a high-damage weapon and use pop-and-duck tactics - if you can break his LOS, it will interrupt the attack.

Whenever I replay that mission, I just run, and never go back there again.

Pansy. Every time I have to deal with a Controller, I just make sure I have plenty of medkits/bandages and the biggest, nastiest weapon I can get my hands on. I remember one time, I had an...Enfield, I think, and the Controller went down in under a clip. I immediately saved.

Mine was at the end of a hallway... Took forever to get to him.
