I see the console when I exit the game, so I know it has one, but I haven't done anything to access it yet.

Edit:

So I've gotten to the Duty/Freedom part of the game and I'm having trouble deciding which to join/help. Advice? :I

You probably wandered into the area that makes Freedom go hostile, since it's coded to think you're helping duty if you approach the area with the sniper.

I advise against joining Freedom, it makes every trip to the Bar a death trap.

Also, what the fuck Clear Sky. When I restarted it I am never able to get a CS-3a or a CS-1. And the CS-1 was my staple body armor for the whole game.

Except for the fact that it doesn't make duty go hostile...

Okay, I'm now downloading Stalker: the shadow of Chernobyl.
Any tips for a beginner?  :)

From someone who still feels like a beginner and sometimes has trouble forcing himself to follow these points:

Don't waste your time with "Find X artifact" sidequests unless you've been holding the objective of one you and it's something you haven't been able to sell off yet but aren't using

Keep any Artifacts that improve Bullet Protection but only equip them if you're expecting trouble until you have an anti-radiation artifact to make up for it.

Try to keep 10-15 kg of space free for carrying loot in your normal loadout.

Money isn't hard to come by. Don't be afraid to spend it on things you need and don't feel the need to horde items you can buy.

Accuracy is the most important stat on a weapon, in my opinion. With high accuracy and a scope (or good aim with iron sights), anything you could kill with X high-powered bodyshots you can kill with 1-3 headshots.

Silenced pistols are great for taking people down quietly. A single shot to the head with the Noiseless Pistol (and more powerful pistols with attached Silencers) can often take someone down without causing too much attention to be drawn to you.

Really, the only advice you absolutely need is "Shoot things in their heads if they're hostile" <_<

Don't you get a CS armor for helping take down the Renegades or something? I remember one of the rewards Susov gives you contained it. Maybe you have to take a specific objective(Machine Yard, I think).

Ahaha.. Oh yeah.. Stalker difficulty is harder than masterful. Heh.. Oh well, I'm at the place where you meet a bloodsucker, thankfully I saw it before it saw me, and loaded couple of mags in its face.  ;D. This game is fun!  :)

Suslov only gave me 9x19 ammo and a flash drive for Grey/Novikov. Bastard also never stocked up on CS-1s anymore.

Those things are blind as goddam bats, and you will more often than not see them when invisible before they see you dancing around in front of them. I hear in games other than SoC they are more threatening, but even with AI fixing mods these things are only a threat when I don't have room to walk backwards and shoot.
