So where do pistols fit in?

I carry one with a silencer for the one-in-a-million chance that I need to kill someone stealthily at a short distance.  Only recently have I had any regular use for a pistol, when I need to fight off bloodsuckers and I can't reload a shotgun fast enough.

Also those bandits that give Vano problems are annoying, for the first time i tried to kill them, and it's rather difficult because no matter how many i kill there will always be that one guy that decides to say hi while i reload and pops a buckshot in my face, but i will get them!
Also, when exactly can i get the Dragunov from Freedom?

I just use that fast firing AK with(or without) sights.  Takes em down fast.  Medium-Long range I use the GP-37.  I rarely ever need a sniper, I usually just use whatever I find first(If I use one), or the gauss rifle near the end.  Also switch to FN2000 when I find it.

If I remember, I think there was a mod for STALKER that lets you play some kind of Multiplayer last as long as you can game mode in the Bloodsucker village.

In that case, is it possible that the camp of STALKERs outside the Trader's basement got wiped out for reasons related to the military patrol I killed because I wanted an assault rifle?

Yes.  If you attack the military they'll head to the Cordon Village in retaliation.  Everyone there will be murdered.(Unless you left no survivors at the military camp)

Those of you into modding might know something about this.  I installed the Zone Reclamation Patching thing program, and everything was fine for a few games.  But now, when I run the game the left side of the screen is covered in debugging information, and I can't figure out how to turn it off.  There's no option in the mod-configure settings, not that I would have turned it on anyway, and I can't find anywhere else to look.  I'll bet Stalker has a console, right?
