Installed Complete 2009, then promptly had it crash because it automatically sets your graphics to the highest settings. Huh. Once I fixed that it was quite amazing to play. Except the fact that I was in a zombified underground lab at the time and found out why those fast zombies are far more terrifying than bloodsuckers. Mostly because I always find Bloodsuckers on my terms, where I have decent amounts of ammo and a place to run and light to shine. Down there I had no ammo and it takes quite a nit to kill the little bastards. The shambling shooting zombies are easy to take down with just a few small bursts, but you can't hit the heads of the little guys. And the ammo dropped by the zombies isn't enough to take down the fast guys. So I ended up with like four major weapons in my backpack and two pistols.

At least I'm out of that hellhole.

How in God's name are you progressing that fast?  You're playing the game more than I am!

Of course, if I didn't waste so much time backtracking for cash and shooting shadows, I'd probably be farther along.  Anyway, I guess "Complete 2009" doesn't break saves then?

Yeah he's been playing a ton recently, according to Steam.

In fact, he's playing right now!

Watch out, I could be playing a game right now and you could know about it.

And yeah, a lot of the missions had me backtrack to the first area. Screw that, without vehicles I'm staying near the bar. And stashes rarely give me things I would find useful, but that doesn't stop me from searching them out. Hell, they are a driving force in of itself in this game.

And just bought a H&K G36, and I'm in love. Where my previous gun was a spray nightmare this thing pops dudes with just three rounds each. It's like the Prius of guns in terms of bullet economy. And after the hell that was the zombies I'm quite terrified of running out of ammo. Now I just need to get my sweet SEVA suit fixed, but it'll cost me about the same as a new suit. Goddammit. At least I got that thing for free.

After taking a break from being scared shitless in the X-Series labs, I decided to do some Duty bashing in Clear Sky with Freedom.

It. Took. Forever.
Freedom was at a tactical disadvantage, Duty has the weapons and armor, Freedom had the numbers and me. Freedom took some time slogging through the garbage, with duty holding it's ground. With Exoskeletons and shitric tons of veterans. After a few waves of underequipped Freedom squads, they manned up and sent better equipped Squads, there was even a Freedom Exoskeleton. With help from me, the Duty forces in the Garbage were knocked down. Now the final fight. The southern entrance was easily taken, surprising me. The northern entrance brought qualms with myself because I had to murder 3 full squads of loners. Then this one squad of Freedomers asked for my help by escorting them until they reach the Duty base. Surprisingly, they were useful, with grenades and many TRs-301's. The squad leader got lucky and killed 3 dutyers gunning for me. I then cleaned out the rest of the base by myself. Unfortunately I never found Mitay. Fortunately I got 25 grand, an Exoskeleton, a Dragunov and a Walther worth it's weight in gold.

For me, I found Duty to be at a tactical disadvantage, because Freedom had me and the dragunov I joined them to be able to buy. I slaughtered them left and right, but the attack stalled at agropom because the fucking freedom squads never fucking moved up from the fucking garbage. >:(

I wandered around agropom slaughtering the endlessly spawning Duty squads with impunity, but I couldn't move forward because they never fucking took the points I cleared (though the loners were happy to). >:(

Ever had a mission break because a pack of wild boars kill the sleeping chimera you are hunting?
Or ever heard a guy say "Be quiet, if we wake it up we are in deep shit" only to immediatley open fire on a pack of mutated dogs?
Or killing a chimera by lobbing 2 grenades under it's feet?

Damn i love this game :)

I've had random defend area missions fail seconds after recieving them. Really, don't call for help if you're the last man alive at a position and you've bled halfway to death, you've already lost.

@Pseudo: Same thing happens to me. I think part of it is because they AI gets borked during area transition.

Huh, the AI always worked good in my game.

Also, one question, what would happen if I tried to walk out of the Zone through the army outpost?

There is no escape from The Zone, STALKER.

One can leave The Zone, but one can not escape it.

Alright what if I killed Sid.

It's ok as long as you do it in a hilarious manner

Also I could never do Faction wars in Clear sky for the same reasons listed earlier.  Neither freedom nor duty ever wants to move their squads to the enemy territory.

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.
