It was implied yes, but again you can find it in a stash in the Red Forest apparently.
Except stashes are buggy as fuck all in SoC...
They're not buggy in SoC, but you need the map data before being able to open them. This is fixed in CoP.
And unless you turn crosshairs off then not being able to use ironsights doesn't make a gun useless in close quarters.
Except not using ironsights means the spread goes up to "can't hit the broad side of a barn at point blank range" (coincidentally, that's also the spread of every weapon, ironsights or not, before you get a hold of an AK-74 (and there's still shit for accuracy until you hit NATO guns)).
So every gun up until NATO guns sucks and you can't fire them without ironsights but the GP37 is a NATO gun and somehow still sucks?
Vintorez is a better snoipah anyways.
You can't fire any gun outside of "you know, I think my knife might be better at this range" range without ironsights and expect to hit your target without burning through far too much ammo (and in games other than SoC the repair level of the gun), and prior to the NATO guns the accuracy is, at best, pretty bad (with the best being Strelok's Fast AK-74, which while handling like a dream compared to everything you get prior is still rather inaccurate). And I loved the GP 37. It just became redundant as a sniper rifle after I got a hold of and played around with a dragunov, and the TRs 301 fits the role of close-to-medium range better with its removable scope.
The vintorez is outclassed by an unscoped TRs 301 as a sniper rifle, and is completely useless against a target that isn't standing dead still. Unless it receives absurd buffs in mods I will never understand the love for that weak, inaccurate, short ranged piece of shit. The dragunov has pin point accuracy and massive damage out past the longest shot you'll actually be able to see your target at, while the vintorez struggles to even hit a man sized target at 50 meters, let alone score a meaningful hit.
which means more ammo and healing supplies).
On an unrelated note, the max weight in LURK is 35(40)kg. That's enough for your armour, your guns, and the bare essentials in ammo and first aid.
For REAL stalkan.

While more realistic, that doesn't really mesh well with good gameplay, as it would force you to make numerous unnecessary trips to haul back loot from wherever the fuck you wandered into, which is called grinding, and it's the worst mechanic ever invented.
