Yeah, the scope is useless, but the rest of the rifle it's attached to isn't.  The irony is, I got it after a mess of long-range shootouts I really could have used it for, but it's served me quite well since then.

That'd be in Wild, right? I don't know how I managed to outshoot those guys. Perhaps I am wearing some sort of a sentient camouflage material. Perhaps they are just dumb.

Nah, the factory in Dark Valley where you're supposed to rescue that one chump.  I slowly lured most of the bandits out in the open and killed some of them at range.  If I recall - four were grenaded (two unaware), four were knifed in the head when they kept guarding corners with their backs to me, half were shot at long range, and the rest died in a crazy spray of bullets at arm's length.

I looted the scope of Borov's corpse, or found it in his office.  It makes a nice compliment to the Fast-AKU, it spits little streams of tracers and I swear actually improves the shot grouping.  The grenade launcher I found in a locker in this accursed basement.  I found some more grenades for it in the factory, but I left them in my stash because I figured I wouldn't be getting a launcher any time soon.

Oh, so you are in the lab, i remember that place, freaking Pseudogiant, i remember when i was trying to survive in the same room as that bastard and i run over an RPG, go yay and pick it up prepared to blast him apart, my joy was shortlived because the damn thing had no ammo, then i ran up those stairs and grenaned him until he died, good thing i had lots of grenades. Also be prepared for a suprise when you get out, it won't be nice and it will probably piss you off greatly, i know it pissed me off when i met them.

Also about the dillema, leave them, sooner or later they will try to do this to some crazy bastard and they will pay for it, you could warn them about it but i doub't they will listen XD

The Dark Valley Loners are only a step above Bandits, and the RPG is such a great way to pick them off. And no, no one else hates you if you kill them all.

That group will remain hostile forever though, probably including the ones who spawn in later.

Lab X18, in vanilla, only needs the fast-firing AK. The place ain't that hard, it's just the scariest god damn place in the entire zone going through it the first time.

The version of X18 in every other mod, on the other hand...

Let's just say I want a lot more firepower before I venture down there in LURK.

Grenades, oh man, grenades.  I have been killed by grenades three times more than being shot in the head and five times more than bleeding to death.  God damn grenade throwers.  I wish I could shot them grenades in their hands.

I have no grenade indicator or minimap on my mod.

I'm gonna love the Monolith aren't I.

I've never once been hit with a grenade.  And the pseudogiant was surprising non-threatening, aside from all those damn sparkballs floating everywhere.  When I went down the stairs into his big chamber, he was already waiting for me at the door.  I guess he got stuck or confused or something by those torn up blast doors, and just milled around in a circle while I unloaded a clip into him, then a rifle-grenade.  That was painful, but it worked.

Now I'm stuck with these goddamn elite soldiers everywhere.  Getting back through the train bridge was a bitch and a half, and I just remembered I could have thrown on some artifacts and walked over the irradiated rails anyway.  Now I'm pissed at the game for a moment.  When I transitioned into Garbage, the level started and I was literally surrounded by Bandits, including one three feet to my right who immediately began unloading an SMG into my head.

Vanilla Stalker doesn't have enemies throw grenades.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that.  I guess it is time I started experimenting with mods, I think I've seen most of this game's bag of tricks now.  Can you install mods and keep playing an existing game, or is it a case-by-case thing?

I tried to continue playing my modded game of SOC again. I'm at Agroprom Underground. But something keeps making me die. I think it's a blow-out that keeps killing me, but it's a delayed death, as the blowout happened minutes before, so I'm not sure if that it.

It probably depends on the mod. The mod I use (Oblivion Lost) required me to start over.

Maybe it's that invisible Cthulhu-man?

Bastard scared the crap out of the first time through that place, now I know what to look for, and to not move a goddamned inch it's a lot less scary. Unless those soldiers turn up, then it's havoc.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

I'm regretting not getting Call of Pripyat when it was on sale now. I knew I would, but I don't have a whole lot of pocket cash to throw around. Bah.

What separates LURK from Oblivion Lost and LURK from vanilla?
LURK fucks around with the graphics, making everything look shittier, but at a much higher polygon count, so it also runs worse! Oblivion Lost just rapes the interface to shit (so does LURK), and switches everyone's dialogue to Russian.

He's not right at all.

Perhaps you'd care to elaborate on how?

He should probably first.
