Complete actually makes the game easier. So if you really want that "Hardcore" experience, play LURK or if you want the base game with bells and whistles try Zone reclamation project.
It would be better if you check all the mods and see what suits your fancy.

I can't think how it makes it's easier, apart from them getting rid of the infinite grenade spamming from enemies. The realistic accuracy mod is an addon and optional.
The AI in battle is a lot smarter as well instead of charging head-long into gunfire.

It has been a long time since I've played Complete though so there might be something I forgot.

Um. Ok.

A mod focused on adding realism similar to oblivion lost, and making the game harder, while "completing" and fixing the game isn't hardcore,

But a super /v/ suggestion compiled mod focusing on making the game a better proper adventure game, and while improving realism, not actually focusing on it, is.

I see.

EDIT:
OL is cool and all but I think complete is better, seems to do a lot of the same things, I think fixes more bugs, and does the freeplay a lot better. OL does have some nifty odd things that complete does not however, such as adding removed NPCs, adding more weapons, and adding vehicles, but I find the vehicles really don't fit in the specific game.

LURK is kinda it's own thing that I wouldn't really compare to OL/complete/AMK/etc, it more of a game overhaul into something a bit different instead of an improvement mod.

Furthermore, Complete 2012 I'm sure is going to be pretty sick once that comes out soon too.

*Can't remember what L.U.R.K. is, looks it up*

Oh, LURK is that mod that makes all the guns boring and shiny.
I'm not really a gun-nut so I'm fine with having a handful of magic gun-metal-grey penis extensions with numbers at the end that let me shoot magic monsters. Perfect ballistic accuracy is not what STALKER is about.

But yeah, Complete all the way untill you get bored/need more challenge. Then you can move up to the more hardcore mods like OL and NDK/DMX.

Complete makes it easier as it reduces the chances for gun jamming, reduces enemy awareness, reduces damage done to player and his armor by all sources. It also makes the guns more accurate and the human enemies go down more quickly. If that doesn't makes the game easier then I do not know what does.

Wat.

Also, the accuracy goes both ways, so how is that easier?

Nope, the accuracy doesn't go both ways here.
In the base game enemies could notice you if you made a lot of noise whereas here the enemies can be so blind that they completely ignore you even when you are right next to them. About the whole damage reduction, the player can survive at least 2 point blank shotgun blasts whereas most enemies die in one shotgun blast. Anyone who has played the base game on master difficulty and the complete mod on master difficulty can see the changes.

There must be something wrong, because complete has always made gunplay incredibly deadly on every single playthrough, 2 point blank shotgun blasts, I don't think so. There's so many instances where NPCs have instantly locked on and fired a short burst that pretty much instantly kills you, I don't see how you could say damage isn't working right.

I don't see what accuracy has to do with detection. NPCs seem pretty accurate to me. Detection was FIXED for that because in vanilla they see you through 7 walls of concrete if you turn a flashlight on, or etc. Also as far as I am aware, LURK has made similar detection changes. They both made stealth additions.

But thats wrong. Not only does complete increase the damage resistance of the player character, it also buffs the higher level armors(which does affect the NPCs). You are now just bending the facts here.
Also, the whole see through walls thing actually makes sense in the base game considering everyone is equipped with a PDA which can track enemy location(also happens with you). The only problem with the stealth in the base game was that NPCs were too sound sensitive and that when you loaded a save everyone knew your location.
In Complete, the enemies are made less sound sensitive and now you can take out your knife and stab a tree 30 meters away(in game distance)from them and they still wouldn't notice whereas in vanilla the enemies got alerted even if you switched to a different weapon.

All I see in here is different people saying, "I like this mod and that means it is objectively the right way to play this game. All other mods are inferior and incorrect."

Anyone who say's "i've completed the game on master difficulty, therefore I know what i'm on about because the changes are different from master" instantly makes their own point invalid, as master difficulty isn't the way most people are going to play the game.

Hell, i've been through on master and can tell you that.

I do think "This mod makes the game extremely hard/easy" is a valid consideration for them, but arguing over whether a mod makes the game hard/easy ought to be resolved by a quick citation of the mod's features/numbers.
