There are quite a bunch of ugly bastards in the whole series though.

Good thing it was a controller though.

Anyway, I've been trying to kill it but keep dying.  If I hide behind a wall it can't mind rape me, but I can't manage to kill it before it reaches me.

Got any nades? Is it indoors or outdoors? If it's outdoors go far away enough but you could still shoot and see it.

I'm underground like I said.  I have three grenades and I've tried them, but it didn't manage to kill him before he just waltzed over and kill me.  That dude can take a ton of damage.  I'm going to have to run by him or retreat, because anything else is suicide.

I say retreat and come back later when you either have a SPAS,, a very high damage assault rifle, a Bulldog Six grenade launcher, or hell an RPG-7. Or a high end armor like a Duty version of the SEVA Suit.

Meanwhile, godddamn Poltergeists in Clear Sky. And Pseudogiants. Oh god Pseudogiants.

It's fairly easy to kill that one, just run up to it, might sound stupid but in the original Stalker they have no melee attack so the best tactic is to run up to them and shotgun them in the face, that or hide behind the wall on the far end of the tunnel and peek out and fire until it's dead :)
Also way more freakier are Burers from CoP, god those midgets can get annoying

Another vote for Call of Pripyat, or SoC. Really enjoyed CoP because it had the polish SoC lacked, and some neat feature additions like the way artifacts spawn, and the artifact gizmo thingy. Didn't finish the game, but did 90% of it and overall it's just structured so much better than SoC. So much more accessible too.

My favorite quest:

That's the trick, it takes him about 2-3 seconds to start the RAEP sequence, that's why you have to play sneaky, and if you are going after him on close ranges you will just have to take at least one hit, besides if i remember right they don't do much damage in SoC, in CoP however they are very bothersome, especially when they start turning people against you, or if they get bugged and spawn inside the Yanov station, ignoring everyone but you

Was the screen turning sepia and stuff during this?  Because that's a controller, not a blowout.

It had to be a controller, because after killing the Bloodsucker I ran into some ugly freak that kept pulling my screen.
Well, if you were underground, it'd have to be a controller. Emissions only occur above-ground, right?

There's one in CS's underground level. I kill it easily with a AK-74 clip or two, right to the head. From across the room, of course. (haven't tried this on higher than the second-easiest difficulty)

By the way, in CS, does anyone know how to get that artifact in the cave you get the Compass in? There's a pair of ghosts that cause objects to fly at you(direct hits are usually fatal).

Phantom. Harder difficulty's are EASYER paradoxily in stalker usually. Because of the stupid chance to hit thing on the easier settings. A controller on master takes just as much bullets on the other difficulty's. Not to mention they're wimps in SoC. (In CoP though they are indeed assholes. AND they have a VERY powerful Melee attack.)

Eh, Artifact?
Oh and what you're talking about are Poltergeists, goddamn those things are overpowered in Clear Sky, in the other games they're just annoying. Did you get the grenade launcher in there though?

Normal and hard, but that was in CoP, in SoC only normal as i still haven't completed the game, i usually crank up the difficulty on the second playtrough.
Also did anyone find Strelok's stash in Pripyat(in CoP), i have found others but the one in Pripyat still escapes me
