Do what everyone else did. Die until things make sense.

If you don't eat you starve to death in SoC, and ostensibly in Clear Sky too, but I never had to eat in that. :/
I've never had to eat in CS, ever. I usually sell it all to a bartender. They trade food at cost, which for something relatively commonly looted off of dead people is a lot of money.

Does hunger work differently in Shadow of Chernobyl than it does in the later games?  Because I find I have to eat pretty frequently.  Does you get hungry for special reasons, or just plain time?

Do what everyone else did. Die until things make sense.

Good to know that's how the game is supposed to be played.  I thought being strung along between quest markers and NPCs with increasingly cryptic dialogue was wrong somehow.

Just time.

I've heard that you have to eat in CS, but I didn't, and I haven't played long enough after patching it to discover if it's changed or not, and I haven't played CoP yet.

Like mostly I don't understand artifacts, I found some blobs of meat with number I don't understand and that slowly poison me if I use them

Really? I hardly understand anything, but I easily understand artifacts.
For example if it says it emits radiation, that means it's gonna irradiate you.
If it says it absorbs or eliminates radiation, it removes radiation.
If it says something in green, it always means it adds a buff to something. For example Rupture +5% it means your more resistant to Bloodsucker clawing and many other mutant attacks.

Sometimes playing this game could really depress me. The feeling of being alone, with dangers lurking in the dark, waiting for you to come to them... Uncertainties on whether you will survive in the next five minutes or so...

Anyway, I need to get a better armour, or at least get the starting one fixed. When will I be able to repair my stuff? And is there any free armour to grab in Zanton? I tried to look for a sniper rifle in the burning farmstead, but I always got toasted by burner anomalies.

Can I get recommendations of mods for SoC? I'm gonna reinstall the game sometime in the near future and would like to use a good mod.

Some STALKER bases like the Skadovosk or the place with Freedomers and Dutyers living together usually have technicians.
Second, I'm pretty sure you could just do side missions or stash finding to find some free armor and weapons.

I dunno, try STALKER Complete or whatever it was called?

Sorry for the double post but it's probably the only way that it would attract attention.

I just need some help on finding an AS Val or a VSS Vintorez. I have plenty of SP-6 rounds from that nice merchant in the flea market.
Currently the only guy I have ever seen with an AS Val was this Loner in The Garbage, and I sold all the Vintorez's I found because I was never able to find ammo for them.

Look at the weapon entry for whichever game that is.
I looked and it really doesn't help me on where to find it around the southern Zone. I only saw one equipped on a Loner who got it from god knows where.

STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat are packaged together for $10 on Steam this weekend.

I've already made use of this.
