In the modded original I never slept alone...  Alway sleep near some buddies so you can follow them after a blowout starts.  The first time it happened was really freaky because I was already inside, but woke up and then saw a whole bunch of guys all run inside with their guns out and stand there looking worried, just about the same as I was.  The second time though I was out by a camp with two other guys and it woke me up again.  it was already nearly pitch black, but all three of us just ran like hell for a tunnel.  Somehow we made it.

I had a firefight once during a blowout.  We were in the hangar in Garbage, me and three or so other guys, when the blowout hit.  I tried to hide in the restroom as that was closest, but there were windows and it wasn't safe enough.  As I ran out to head for the hangar proper like five or six bandits charged in trying to get into the hangar too.  They ended up hiding in the boxcar which wasn't safe either, and the ones we didn't shoot in the firefight died from the psi emissions.  I ran out into the blowout during the worst part to save a comrade.  It was awesome.

He got killed by a boar like a week (in-game) later, I was pissed.

Oblivion lost changed too much for me. I preferred Stalker Complete - which is just normal stalker with graphical enhancements and bug fixing, and LURK. AMK was pretty cool too.

During one of the night missions you get to cross into bloodsucker territory. Talk about pant shitting, especially since their eyes don't glow anymore in CoP.

That's awesome, but how did you manage to save anyone in that mod?  Seems like anyone who gets hit is pretty much screwed, especially since head shots are basically instant kill yet happen regularly.  I'm always losing all the semi-important NPCs really early because they get into a fight from some enemies assaulting the place, and drop just as easily as normal guys.  Now I don't have any side missions to do.  :(

I am unaware of any major mods for CoP, as it just came out and modders are doing major overhauls. Small ones can be dragged into the stalker folder.

Doing quests for and helping out stalkers will raise faction reputation.

He ran out to shoot the bandits hiding in the boxcar, and one got him with a shotgun as soon as he went into view.  He was apparently just wounded enough to drop without actually dying, and I ran out and used a medkit on him before the psi emission killed him.

Wow, that is hard to spot. How the hell do you see them when they're moving?

More easily probably.  Two white dots standing still are usually harder to spot than two white dots moving. ;)
