Attention Span
« on: February 11, 2010, 07:48:29 pm »

Personally this is something that I've worked hard and tireless to improve. My main reason for this is that I'd prefer to actually learn things when I have a daunting task to complete, that and I'd prefer to not be like most people I happen to know.

If I have to, I will try my hardest to focus on anything given to me but I can't say that I will last very long but the harder plus longer (ah fuck, innuendos, sorry) the better the results.

So yeah, it's a work in progress.

edit: I'm also posting for the sake of other projects

It depends on how much it interests me.  With regards to the internet this is 10 folded.  As alot of the information is useless.

Average people have a 15 minute attention span. Don't beat yourself up about it.

10 minute attention span? They must have looked for the most run down looking students they could find to take their survey. Even I can concentrate longer than that after pulling an all-nighter, and I wouldn't consider myself to have a particularly good attention span.

My concentration dosn't have a span, in fact, I don't think I have an attention. I tend to forget what I were doing a few seconds ago, so if it's something complicated what requires action it's about 0.5 seconds, on the other hand if it's something where the default is just sitting around reacting instantly to stuff without follow-up, or just absorbing information, I will continue like a machine until I am disturbed by outside interference, because I forget I have been doing it before I can get bored of it. Wait, what is that "it" referring to now again? I forgot, I think.

Wow, that's just scary. It's a shame people can't learn to cope with new challenges quite easy but then again not everyone can be expected to be so hardy.

I might have to make a second poll about this! (But not right now)

I can only concentrate on things that interest me which explains my failing grade...

Also, you misspelled "Attention." :)

I didn't even finish reading the pol options... but that is more laziness than attention span.

If something is interesting, I can keep concentration for a while. don't expect me to last more than an hour, however, unless it requires activity.

if it is something boring, and passive, then I last 5-10 minutes if I try really hard, then I unconsciously start thinking about something else. it takes a while then to remember that I was supposed to do something else, like listening.

low attention span may also be the reason for which I can barely remember anything.
