Oh, sorry, not LEATHER. My mistake.

Change LEATHER to SKIN_TANNED. If that doesn't work (which is certainly a possibility) you'll have to make a new gem-type gloss that's used as a placeholder for leather.

Put this in a MATGLOSS file:

Code: [Select]
[MATGLOSS_STONE:LEATHER]
[TILE:225][COLOR:6:0:1][GEM:tanned hides:leather][VALUE:1]
[SOLID_DENSITY:1000] #g/m^3 equal to water - just so long as it's lighter than ores
#I would add a melting/boiling point as well but I can't be bothered atm

Now update the reaction to:

Code: [Select]
[PRODUCT:1:BED:NO_SUBTYPE:STONE:LEATHER]
The bed is actually stone, but appears similar to leather. This is the easiest way of doing things without going into creature-specific reactions.

Other races shouldn't have access to the "leather" gem, nor will you be able to do anything with it other than make beds (unless you make more reactions).

In reactions the product of the reaction must be identified, the reagent however can be generic.

This means any product line should not have NO_MATGLOSS (the game will try to make a generic material but you get odd results infinitely heavy stone and wood, absolute zero leather, negative value items, fun stuff like that). This means you need to pick an animal to use for your bed reaction, like dog.

Code: [Select]
[REACTION:LEATHER_BED]
[NAME:make leather Bed]
[SMELTER]
[REAGENT:1:SKIN_TANNED:NO_SUBTYPE:LEATHER:NO_MATGLOSS]
[PRODUCT:1:BED:NO_SUBTYPE:LEATHER:DOG]

Remember that you can not add a reaction to a genned world, though you can alter an existing reaction in that world. Further you probably should empty your ...\data\objects folder. If you are creating this in a seperate mods folder be warned that the game can sometimes be picky about file names and such.

[PRODUCT:1:BED:NO_SUBTYPE:LEATHER:DOG]

it should be

[PRODUCT:100:1:BED:NO_SUBTYPE:LEATHER:DOG]

before there was 1% chance of making nothing

Want to make a reaction to turn 1 log into 5 blocks (because using an entire log to make something is rediculous).

Here's what I have:
[REACTION:PLANK_MAKING]
[NAME:chop logs into planks]
[SMELTER]
[REAGENT:1:WOOD:NONE:WOOD:NO_MATGLOSS]
[PRODUCT:100:5:???:???:WOOD:OAK]

The items in the section marked ??? are where I'm stuck. Would BLOCK:NO_SUBTYPE work?

Also, in another thread someone had the wicked idea to mod cage traps to accept coffins as cages. Is it possible to do this? Is it possible to mod coffins to be used as cages all the time? (So I can bury convicts alive)

Also also, will a wood block be used only for construction, or can I use it for other carpentry work as well?

Good catch, I blame work 12 hour days 3 days in a row for that one.

Okay, BLOCK:NO_SUBTYPE did not work. Guy took log to smelter, log vanished, no blocks made. Damn.

Any ideas?

BLOCKS:NO_SUBTYPE, you need an S in there.

Yeah, that worked.

Of course I then figured out that blocks will not be used for anything other than constuction. Dammit.

Still, so long as I only build with blocks (and only make blocks via the smelter) my logs should go much further.

Any ideas on the coffin/cage thing from earlier?

I feel a little rude about how blunt I was adressing the problem, but I couldn't help it, the computer I was on while psoting this was hijacked by a son of a.... Elf.

And yes working 12hrs for 3days is a 'Cat-Splosion' Pain in the can. But hey you could be working pretty much 24/7 like me (pretty much with Co-op in the morning, running to school with 15min to get lunch and stuff for classes, going to work after school, homework then barn work)

I feel your pain

Anywho I'd like to know how to make a skull totem of a creature using a reaction

Code: [Select]

[REACTION:MAKE_IMP_FIRE_TOTEM]
[NAME:make fire imp totem]
[SMELTER]
[PRODUCT:100:1:TOTEM:NO_SUBTYPE:IMP_FIRE:IMP_FIRE]

need help with this one, it's driving me nuts

My collection of interesting mods lists the reagent line as something like [REAGENT:1:SKULL:NO_SUBTYPE:UNICORN:STANDARD] but that Standard bit is probably poor syntax.

Ooh I'll jump into this. I was trying to make giant cave spider silk blocks... (I've got a project...)
I used BLOCKS:NO_SUBTYPE:SILK:CAVE_SPIDER_GIANT
But all I got was boiling silk. Did I mess up defining material type or was it just hubris trying to make a block of silk?
