I started this fortress with zero leadership experience. My previous endeavors into the world resulted in the loss of my original party due to not knowing about the hostility of the area.

My wagon broke down in a terrible area. Right where a river splits, with very few trees for beds. Everything went well for the first 4 years, short of a wood shortage resulting in some dwarves sleeping on the ground when my population got around the 100 mark. In the summer of the fifth year however, I was hit by a goblin seige. I didn't have a real military set up yet, just 11 guards, and had zero battle experience. I was in the process of hooking a switch up to a drawbridge to prevent exactly what was about to happen.

But of course, the goblins shoot a spear through the heart of the mechanic who was making the connection, cancelling that plan. They barge in to my walls and down the stairs, directly into my meeting area. Half of them panic and scatter above ground, the other half start punching and kicking since I don't know how to give them weapons. The seige is stopped, but not before 20 of my citizens are killed.

Then... Everybody in the fortress, except my Captain of the Guard, throws a tantrum. All at once. Mr. Rightous Captain of the Guard starts beating one dwarf who is breaking tables in the dining hall, only to have EVERYBODY ELSE gang up and beat him to death. My fortress is in anarchy. Right when it seems like everyone is about to calm down, and i'm left with around 90 of my original 135ish dwarfs, ANOTHER goblin siege comes. 20 more citizens die fending them off, the end result being everybody in my fortress going berserk and killing each other.

Tunítdún's population at the time of writing is 24. 15 of them are insane, the rest locked themselves in their room.

Methinks it's time to start a new fortress.

This game is awesome.

Keep trying until everyone's dead... you never know, the spiral might end and you could have 5 dwarves trying to pick off the pieces and fend off goblins. Fun ensues :P

And been a bit smug over generating a world with an elephant monster that got 87763 sentient kills.
