I'm with Rysith against Shades for the same reasons. Good call, Rysith.

Edit: And hello to you too, Vector!

Morning.  Don't buddy-bandwagon.  It makes Vector extremely angry.  Were she playing this game, she'd lynch you off the planet.

Not even if I was thinking the same thing before I even read his post? Cause I was. *shrug*

Yes.  This is because Vector can't read your mind.  If you think Vector can read your mind, then you have more things wrong with you than buddy-bandwagoning.

Press people, don't just dogpile on the easy ones.  Additional: what if Rysith is scum?  Then you've just complimented a scumball.  They'll associate you guys together.  You'll be more lynchable.

Do not take refuge in lynchability.  Find someone, press him, and be careful.  You don't get to piggyback off Rysith's work and add nothing but a vote and a smile.

I would love to reply to the accusations against me, but so far they consist of "RANDOM RAWR" and "I'M BAYER DERP DERP DERP." That being the case...

You are, you should know that it's in the pm thing we got sent.

Anyway I think Org clearly knows something due to his early vote.
For my part because I'm nowhere near competent enough to pull off that play convincingly for a whole game.

Nervousness, deflecting, subtlety claiming that it's ridiculous for him to be scum, and attempts at (weak) humor around it. How's scumchat looking, Shades?

I'm with Rysith against Shades for the same reasons. Good call, Rysith.

Edit: And hello to you too, Vector!

Nice going, Joe. Way to be easy-bandwagoning scum when it's not even a good time for a bandwagoner to jump.

I'm going to bandwagon the anti-bandwagon people. Jokerman, you've posted several times without actually adding anything to your vote. Can you do so, or are you just bandwagoning, as people have accused you of?

Shades: To expand on my previous points, if the best you can do against an innocent query like "who is your partner" is to take refuge in audacity and deflect onto Org, and the best you can do against "Haha it would be funny if Shades were scum given that deflection and refuge in audacity" is "There is no way I'm good enough to pull that off, so clearly I can't be scum, hahaha", you're scum. You slipped, you forgot what town would do in that situation, and now you're in a pretty deep hole, what with a second attempt at avoiding that most uncomfortable question of "Why are you scum?"

So Shades. Let's sit down and have a nice talk about why you are scum, and who your scumbuddy actually is, before heading off to play a nice, friendly game of pin the noose on the scum. Where by scum, I mean you, because you are one. Sound good?

I didn't think anyone would really consider it sensible to bandwagon on a reply to a day one random joke vote phase vote, other than scum of course who know who the scum are so can start pushing an agenda from the get go. It's possible this implies you are scum but my vote will stay on Org till he answers.

As to if that is the best I can do well you clearly need to read some of the very few games I've been in, I always seem to be thought of as scum on the first day. Something I really need to work on, but then that is why I joined this game.

@Vector

Org snuck in a post right after I finished sending the PMs and right before I started the day.  I stated that Org's post just before mine counted and I can't see the first vote ever as anything BUT a RV (Random Questions are also marked as RV).

@Shades

I see the issue with your posts: you're replies are deflectionary and submissive.

You are, you should know that it's in the pm thing we got sent.

It reads pretty clear that you didn't want to answer Glyph's question, so you threw up a cute joke to bypass it instead of actually naming someone in truth.  It's not much, since this is RVS and everything can be taken lightly, but it was enough to spark Glyph's interests.

To be honest, though, that's NOT a problem.  By doing that, you got Glyph to reply to you, which is just as useful as trying to get someone else to reply to your own RV.

The Ugly comes later here:

I think it would be immensely hilarious if you both turn out to be the scum after that last comment. So why don't both of you give me a good reason why I should believe you aren't?

For my part because I'm nowhere near competent enough to pull off that play convincingly for a whole game.

Never use your skill or lack there of to defend yourself.  The reason is because it's Self-Meta: attempting to use your own game-personality to prove positively that you are what you say you are.

The problem: By stating that, you acknowledge that you 'know' about your own personal quirks to the point that you can see whether they are scummy or not.  Since you know it, that means, as scum, you would readily display it (in your case, actually pulling a stunt like that and relying on people thinking you aren't skilled enough to do it).

Before you go: But it's true.  Remember "We Don't Know You." and "This game is ALL about lying."

Ok, so what TO DO about questions like that?

They are traps.  There's no 'good' way to answer a question like that strait up.  You can't say something to 'prove your town'.  Towniness is proven by ACTIONS: by scumhunting, and attacking others, and being bold, and willing to sacrifice, and wanting the town to win.

There's two ways of handling that question: 1. Answer it anyway, know that you'll be attacked for it, and use the attack as a way to read the other player.  Don't be shocked: you actually learn more by being attacked than by attacking others sometimes.  Thus it's not a bad idea to willingly let someone try to lynch you if it means being able to better see how they are.

2. force the other to bring REAL evidence against you, with issues you CAN answer.  If they can: answer those.  If they can't but want to keep pressing, let them and focus more on attacking instead.

But remember, you can't SAY anything that makes you look town, really.

Apologies if it looked like I was bandwagoning.

I'd like to unvote Shades in favor of voting SirBayer.

I know the kid outside of the game and I know that he doesn't get all frantic and screechy unless he's bothered by something - in this case, the fact that he's scum. He also knows that I would accuse him right away, so he attacked me before I could attack him in an attempt to throw blame at me before I can do the same to him. BayBay undoubtedly knows how easy it would be to convince people that he's scum (I've read the last couple games he's been in), so he's all panicked.

Does this work better?

Meta is acceptable, but generally you should realize that the mentors aren't going to be doing the lynching.  It's not about what others think, at this point.  Address yourself to Bayer and attack him, rather than looking to us for approval.

@Rysith: much better, even though it has a hint of "creepy old uncle."  On the other hand, that may have been what you were going for.

Glyph, I have no idea. I most definately do not belong in this.

On a much more serious note, I would like to know what Shades would say if I asked him who his buddy is.

You are, you should know that it's in the pm thing we got sent.

Yeah. I do.
I know when the game started.
Because, you know, PMs.
Duh.

This was no RV.
Not really. Not any good.

I'm still stunned that you can read.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure where you're coming from. From what you tell me, I'm always screechy and annoying, so I don't think that works here.

Also: What? Why would I ever assume you'd go straight for m- oh wait.

Huh.

You would, wouldn't you?
Ok, so what TO DO about questions like that?

They are traps.

So if Dak is telling the truth (and he is, he's a mentor) then what GlyphGryph (if I read this right) did was try to trick him with an unanswerable question.

And from the same post:

Anyways, I have a tendency to panic, even when (especially when?) I'm not guilty of something. As long as I'm the one on the offense I'm fine, but I don't always have time to be on the offensive in RL - and for a good chunk of this game I won't. So I need to work on not panicking (especially when I'm not actually guilty of something) and on resisting the urge to overexplain - which I'm failing at here, mind you.
Bold added for emphasis.

Taking the time to explain away the scumslips he'll later make, that he knows he'll make. That's, uh, real great, GlyphGryph. Thanks for tipping us off on things to watch for.
