Sweet! What do I need to know to start making a character? Are you still going to do the sprites?
You can do the sprite if you want, but I will if you don't want to.
Don't make your character now. After I rebalance things, you'll need to say what your character sprite will look like, what you want to do with your perk points, and what you want to buy.

So the stuff as it stands now is the way it will go?
Maybe. Make your character at your own risk.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

One could also make the argument that the Hero class is better than all other classes, because it has the Snake perk, which allows one to save another class.

I didn't request that perk though; you just added it in.

Meh. I'll probably just go Engineer or Medic then.

What are you talking about? Brute makes the AP cost for using a combat knife 2 AP; Knife to Meet you makes it 1 AP. Since you have 17 AP, you can make 17 AP a turn.
Also, I'm going to disallow your character because you said "plz".

Nevertheless it is a very strong perk.

I request an automated aiming and firing apparatus for firearms, constructable by an engineer.

That's going to be expensive. Pretty friggin' expensive, man. It's not like those other things, that's... that's heavy.
OR IS IT???? DUN DUN DUNN!!!!!

I mean it's been suggested three, four times already. I've never put it in. It's too powerful, in my opinion. Plus, it just adds a player to the game, and I know how much I hate that. For no good reason, too! I want to add a player to the game because someone wants to play, not because someone wants to be more powerful.
But hmm, perks do add a lot of damage... Case in point, Survivor does about 20 damage a turn, almost three times as much as an MP5 alone.
Hmmm. Hmmm.
I think to make it fair, it will have to scale to weapon cost. Otherwise, you get an enormously expensive mount that is useless with anything less than a Degtyaryov, or you get something that is cost-efficient with even a pistol, and with a Degtyaryov you just mow down hordes.

Okay. So what's the cost? Say you have an MP5, $300. You can either get a mount with an MP5, which will either improve your damage by 1/3, or get a weapon that will improve your damage by 1/3. These should cost approximately the same amount. So what does it usually cost for a 33% improvement?
Whoa, whoa! The Thompson is actually worse than the MP5. How did that happen?
Actually, nope. With the accuracy improvement it is actually a miniscule amount better.
I've done the calculations; I need to improve Thompson damage by 25%; that's 1.25, so it's all good.
Degtyaryov needs some changes too.

Well. In the end, upgrading your weapon takes you 1.333x-.5x=.83x, where x is the weapon's cost; so the mount should cost... similarly? But in fact, it's the opposite of what I thought. Mounts suck donkey balls. Even if a mount were free, it would be worse than just upgrading your weapon. Whoo.
Maybe if we assume that you only do double "normal" damage with perks? That means upgrading takes 1.5x-.5x=x. So it's still only the normal cost. And counting the fact that upgrading is slightly cheaper than just buying multiple, so a 133%-damage upgrade might only cost 128% of the price... I think mounts will be free, yeah.
But I'm still only allowing one mount at a time. More is just ridiculous.

Well... several things:

1) Auto-Aiming weapons wouldn't benefit from any player perks(unless you add in perks to specifically benefit them), so they would still be weaker than another player with +50% damage and accuracy perks and such.
2) Realistically, you would need different equipment to handle different weapons; building a sentry-pistol would just require a stand, sensor, focus and trigger, while building a sentry-Degtyaryov would need all of the above + aim correction, recoil reduction, belt-feeding mechanism, heat sink, etc.
3) Because of this, you can price the turret to scale with the gun. Something like mount price + 50% of the weapon cost. That way a .22 Pistol gun would cost $125 to mount($225 total), while a fully-upgraded Degtyaryov gun would cost $625 to mount($1725 total).
4) Alternatively, you could disallow making turrets from standard weapons, and add turret-exclusive weapons which you can balance how you see fit.
5) The main reason for this would be to allow the engineer to shoot at zombies while still going around repairing stuff and setting up buildings.
6) I can't be Delmond Conagher without sentry guns.

I... I don't understand.
Did you not read my previous post?

I mean, what are you trying to tell me? Are you trying to convince me to put turrets in the game? I already did. Are you trying to come up with a pricing system? I already did. I have said most or all of what you have said here, in the above post... so I'm really not sure what you're talking about.

First page may not be updated much yet.

Ummm, will melee be tampered with?
Rapier seems very powerful when compared with shortsword and nothing aside from combat knives is really worth it if you have alot of perk points...

Some sort of higher cost weapon might be nice in both the knife and non-knife fields, or maybe do away with the knife elitism...

I didn't actually add them, but I'm going to. I found it... bizarre that you seemed to be trying to convince me to add turrets when I had already decided to.

Rapier is twice as powerful, but almost twice as expensive.
Acrobats are interesting in that they are pretty powerful and cheap, but can't move ahead. Consider: an Acrobat with enough money for two Combat Knives, and using only his starting PP points, would do 16 damage a turn. A Brute with a Rapier, though more expensive, would almost double that.
Letting Acrobats use more than combat knives would make them overpowered, if that's what you mean. As evidenced by your participation this turn, they are quite powerful already. In fact I am not sure they even serve a purpose as a subclass... perhaps I will eliminate them and keep only the Brute class.

Well it seemed to me that you were still debating weather to add them in or not, hence my post.
